Opioids Anyone else get morphine depression?

I used to rage hard on opiates, although I was just an angry individual back then in general. The large quantities of cocaine didn’t help none..

Almost every opioid I've ever used has caused irritability at some point.

The least irritability inducing for me was methadone, by far.

My theory is that an opioids capacity to cause irritability stems in part from its strength as an agonist of the kappa opioid receptor (KOR) relative to the mu opioid receptor (MOR).

Not surprising that methadone isn't much of an offender as its MOR to KOR ratio is around 1:250 (meaning it's 250x more specific for the MOR).

Morphine is around 1:175 and oxycodone is something like a very pissy 1:40. I feel perhaps the most volatile and pissy on oxycodone than any other opioid (though I do like oxycodone).

Aside from not being particularly irritable, methadone doesn't cause depression like other opioids as its an active NMDA antagonist. If someone offered me oxycodone, heroin or methadone is take methadone in a heartbeat.

Do you know the ratios for dihydromorphine or dihydroheroin? Those made me more pissy than regular old morphine/heroin.

I agree with the oxy assessment too..

I could not tolerate morphine and my doctor switched me to oxycodone. I never got mood swings with oxycodone or hydrocodone like I did with morphine but i got addicted.
If you don't have addictive tendencies you should try to switch before adding caffeine.

Was the opposite for me. Methadone caused my mood swings and made me quite manic.
 
Seems we all react Somewhat differently. Not surprising!
Well my doc and I agreed the opes aren’t working well enough in light of the risks and my GI issues, so I’ll be going off them.
Meantime, I’ve had improvements in my mood by crushing Small amounts of the MS Contin into my coffee. 15mg yesterday. Will keep cutting that amount in half every few days until done. The leftover hydromorphone, Nucynta and Kratom extract may be too tempting tho. On the fence on whether to flush them. Altho they are for legit pain, I’m getting slammed by my PcP, therapist and pain doc to stop taking them. Apparently opiates are the root cause of all my evils. Or so I’m led to believe. There’s some truth to it. Trouble is, I don’t know how much of my truths are due to that.

All opioids make me sad. I hate them. I could never be addicted to them because they make me depressed as crap. It’s a terrible feeling and I actually have it right now. It’s better than the terrors of advanced bupe withdrawals, which is why I took it. I say use them for pain, when the pain is worse than the sadness that comes with using them. I wondered if anyone else for sad on them.
 
I've been using opiates recreationally for about 20 years and they Always make me more talkative and happier in social situations. The only time the depression hits me is on the come down when I run out.
 
Yes, you're not alone in this OP. It's more common in chronic, dependent users. I'm not sure what exactly causes this, but I would guess the mechanism concerns the changes made to the different Opioid receptors over time.

If you do a little research, you can start to piece together a possible, educated guess.

I didn't care about anything but heroin when I was on it, I've only had depression and anxiety as I've got older, I don't ever remember being depressed on heroin, hence me trying to find a similar opioids without having to touch heroin but nothing compares, it all makes me hyper, even oxys after ten days use they made me stimulated, even 80mg, it didn't at first, bloody weird!

I should be getting 10 x 10mg Zomorph capsules how do I turn them from ER into IR, chew them up, I got told empty into cola leave for half hour and drink?

I've not had anything for ages apart from mirtazapine, CBD and herbal teas, so I'll only do 20mg, I did 40mg oxy my first time though, oh they was lovely at first haha, so I could do more but I'll be a good fairy
