Anyone else addicted to MJ like me?

Now at 22 yrs old I have managed to quit weed entirely for a week now. Are my lungs gonna be fucked up? If I don't ever smoke again could I perhaps live to be an old man?

Between 2 weeks and 3 months after quitting, your circulation improves, and your lung function increases by 30 percent. Your lung function will continue to improve over 9 months as the cilia begin to regrow. By 9 months, smoking-related coughing, congestion and shortness of breath should slow and cease. (from an ehow article)

Just curious has any one else abused cannabis the same or longer than me?

It is a very large world we live in my friend.

I plan just to eat weed edibles at Raves every once in awhile and take my lovley MDMA... Hopefully I never smoke again

at 19 I took MDMA and it became my favorite drug... much more favorite than cannabis... never seemed to have a problem with MDMA tho... I just take it at festivals like 2-4 times a year

Please be very careful with your new friend molly and treat her with respect. She can be much more damaging than your smoking habit and oh so much more addicting. As with anything else keep you're head on straight and just be aware of what you're doing.

And you mentioned using alprazolam, did you abuse it or use it only for recreational purposes?

Yea haha xanax and weed is one of my fav combos. I have had periods when I was very addicted to xanax as well. I had pretty much an unlimited supply when I lived over seas. One of the best things to do with xanax is to mix it with other benzos and smoke on top of that such as xanax + kpin + ativan + joint. You wont be awake for very long tho but the feeling you get before passing out is amazing.
I have had physical withdraw as well from my xanax abuse but I just weened my self off and got off it when I wanted to after my binges it was no where as near as strong as my weed habit problem.

Well then you were lucky. Benzo's, unlike week, are very physically addictive.

From reading your posts it sounds like you have some deep depression on other psychological stuff going on which could be giving you some extreme paranoia. I mean I have been smoking very heavily for 15 years. I started at 13 and spent all my teen years as a classic stoner chick. You quit cigs very young, you should be totally fine.

If your this worried about your help over your use of weed then i would be really careful about how you mess with things like opiates and benzos. Depression is a big trigger of addictive behavior.

Well most probaly your lungs are gonna be fine you should be more scared about the the destroyed and never rebuild synapses in your brain. A study showes that people who started smoking before the age of 16 and crnoic smoke sinse then have trouble learning stuff and oftenlysuffer pychosis. They dont learn from their mistakes as fast as normal people would...

I'm surprised how many people keep comparing weed and physically addictive substances. I'm just saying me personally am very addicted to weed and have binged on physically addictive drugs such as benzos and oxy's with physical addiction problems but managed to get over them. The one addiction I have not been able to get over has been weed which has hurt me more than physically addictive substances in the long term (social aspects, quality of sober life , motivation, etc..). I believe most addictions stem from a mental attachment to that thing whether it is physically addictive or not. So when people comment saying things such as "weed is not addictive" which is true physically but again anything can be addictive mentally. Such as my addiction to weed.

Also I do not like vaporizers. I like my 2 foot bong with ash catcher the best. I have owned the Volcano Vaporizer and the Super Vape Zilla some of the higher end vapes trying to shoot for a more healthier lungs. I find with vapes I have to take bigger drags anyways and usually end up smoking multiple bags... I still get the lung irritation and feel I have to vape alot longer to get to the desired effect. One small bong hit and im good.

Either way Its been around a week since I last smoked!!!... I mean I still eat edibles but I don't count that... I don't believe edibles cause damage to the body... or do they?

During pothead periods of yore, my lungs started to feel pretty bad. I wasn't smoking tobacco, just cannabis. I remember, it was especially apparent when I exercised, and had to breathe more heavily -- I would feel pains in my chest if I inhaled too deeply. It sucked. I don't care what any stoner says to rationalize his or her habit. Smoking cannabis causes damage to the respiratory system, and I could feel it.

Well, if you think you are psychologically addicted to cannabis...edibles would just fuel that addiction even more. Edibles are said to be exponentially more potent than just smoking the herb and that might drastically alter your mental health. And from personal experience, I find edibles can drain the body even more because it lasts for several hours, where as a normal joint or bong hit will last at most couple hours.

Oh yeah, I was crazy addicted. Still am but I've been sober off it awhile now because I'm sick of being a pathetic addict and having my life revolve around weed.

I don't necessarily know about cancer but I have no doubts that weed smoke is hard on the lungs. Nowhere near as hard as cigarettes, but irritating none the less. When I smoked a lot I would always cough, get sore throats, chronic bronchitis every time I'd get a cold and just cough and cough for months on end. I think for people who smoke in a healthy balance (say, a few times a week or something) it's a non issue. But when you were smoking 10+ bowls, multiple sessions a day, every day like I was, your lungs start to suffer pretty hard for it.

Getting a vaporizer helped me a lot, but I was really addicted to the act of smoking and that's why I quit all together, I don't trust myself to vape only.

Okay. You do realize that eating edibles, though will help your lungs, is only going to make your tolerance raise higher and faster? Like you said, you get more fucked up when eating them. They dont cause the physical damage that smoking does at all, but all the aspects of how addictive cannabis is to you will be amplified. Your main post and even the name of this thread suggest thats a big concert of yours, but eating edibles will not help it at all.

In terms of your lung issues. Chill. You are not smoking THAT much. Honestly. And your really young. You quite the cigarettes and your lungs are healing. I mean even people who never smoke anything can still get it. But your worrying to a silly degree. The edibles helps your lungs, but not your tolerance.

Does this cover your questions?

The edibles helps your lungs, but not your tolerance.

I know this is true for most people but I have found that I get alot more bang for my buck from edibles. When I eat edibles I consume less weed over the course of the day compared to smoking. If I use very high quality bud I can literally get fucked up for 4+ hours on .2 of cannabis and not even a whole gram of that same marijuana would get me that high from smoking. Maybe im blessed but earlier in my times of smoking edibles gave me no effect but latley edibles have made a huge difference. Im not sure what changed but my body now reacts to edibles much better than b4. I believe people who do not feel much from edibles should keep on trying them because some how it adapted on me and works every time. All I do is cook an ounce into olive oil and cook that into cookies and eat on an empty stomach... It works wonders.

^I'm surprised you get higher from edibles when using the same amount you would smoke.

I mean, edibles get you high for longuer than smoking, so shouldn't the high be weaker but longuer?

I'm pretty sure if I'd stop smoking/vaping and eat edibles only I would use much more cannabis.

they key is to be very hungry when you eat your edible... Ive had edibles that have not done shit... but if I either eat a firecracker or one of my cookies that I make on a completely empty stomach I always feel it and much longer and harder than if I were to smoke it or smoke 3 times the amount. The key is the VERY empty stomach.
