Watching an old b-movie or an old, black-and-white horror/sci-fi movie (well, old horror/sci-fi movie, ex: Bloodfeast, Plan 9 From Outer Space, Evil Dead, Night of the Living Dead - not in color!)?

I happen to find them extremely enjoyable, laughable, and just fucking fun to watch. And, in my opinion, new horror movies are crappy, over-use effects, leave no room for the audience's imagination, and make me want to vomit (they don't scare me, they make me want to puke).

Can anybody recommend me any other good ole' fashioned old b-horror/sci-fi movies that maybe I haven't seen yet?

I hear what you're saying from a mainstream perspective... but,

I think saying all new horror movies are "crappy" is a bit shallow. Honestly, if you're just watching the new horror movies that are force-fed to you via advertisement like Saw 3 or The Grudge 2 (which, by the way, is the #1 movie in America WFT?!) then, yes, new horror movies aren't so great. But there's a lot of other film currently being made that isn't in the mainstream wave.

Try finding a video rental store that *isn't* Blockbuster or Hollywood Video, most likely one in a "young" neighborhood and check out their horror section.

Personally, I recommend seeking some Japanese horror like Ringu (originally Japanese), Dark Water, The Audition, or The Eye. Other foreign horror films I'd reccommend include the French film Eyes Without a Face or the Italian film The 120 Days of Sodom.

And the films I'd tell a friend to watch from the 80s horror/ sci-fi category, well, my number one is Misery (though a lot of people don't find that true horror). :)

Naughty, naughty!

Have you actually seen this film? I'd hardly call Salo a 'horror' movie. One of the biggest issues I have with the film is that most people come into it with the shallowest intentions, then turn around and simply write it off as a series of empty, disgusting gestures. That's a shame because it's probably the most philosophically challenging film Pasolini ever made. If you're interested, there are wonderful essays on the subject that can be found in the book The Passion of Pier Paolo Pasolini, and also through an internet search.

Anyway, good movie. You should see Pasolini's The Gospel According to St. Matthew. You'd probably dig it. He was certainly a deeply troubled and fucked-up individual ... and, well, those are usually the most fascinating.

I know what you're talking about, I like some of the new foreign, especially Japanese horror flicks, they're pretty good. When I said the new horror flicks aren't great, I was talking about shit like the Grudge (which I laughed through)..

Salo is something I was contemplating watching, but sounded too gross. Might as well though. The scariest thing I've ever seen wasn't a horror film per se: Eraserhead. Great movie, it's like watching someone's nightmare.

cant think of many off hand but you could register at cinematik- torrent site with loads of old/hard to find movies like that available

Yes I looooooove old scary movies. Im collecting all the really cheesy awesome old ones on DVD, like Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm St., The ORIGINAL texas chainsaw massacre, etc.

I love all scary movies, old or new, cheesy or serious. Its a hobby of mine.

^they are great

i like the super camp stuff like evil dead, funnier ones like april fools, 'cult following' ones like lost boys
i pretty much think lost boys is one of my favorite films of all times, despite how bad it is

sleep all day. party all night. never grow old. never die. life is good as a vampire

LOL....

i think i mentioned this movie here before....

Its maaaad cheesey and its awesome, made in the peak of the "hippies are dangerous acid-addicted satanist freak degenerates" phase of america.......basically a bunch of (of course) totally depraved hippies follow their deranged leader to a small (like 15 ppl live there) town....theyre satanistic vampires or somethin liek that, then they get infected with rabies and go around on a rampage attacking and killing and rabie-infecting all the ppl who live in this tiny rural town.....with lots of dosing the locals with acid, evil plans, and over the top shit....if the pictures dont tell yuo enough....lol...just check it youll LOVE it.
