Any way to prepare for jaw pain?

The first time I rolled I used a binky and it was amazing but killed my jaw. My jaw was sore for like 3 days after, the first day I couldn't eat.

I was thinking like chewing gum a lot before I roll next to help with the pain?
Or ever just use a binky a couple times a week, but that looks kinda suspicious.

400+mg magnesium as a daily supplement. I take it every day and I don't clench anymore
 
Don't just go to the store and buy any magnesium. ESPECIALLY don't purchase magnesium oxide, you won't absorb much of it.

Buy magnesium CITRATE. It has the highest bioavailability compared to other forms of magnesium. It works wonders.
 
Gum sounds like a good idea but if you're anything like me you'll wind up with a sore jaw and a thousand places you bit the inside of your mouth.

It interferes with the nerve impulses that cause the involuntary clenching.

Magnesium will help with the grinding which is the point behind a pacifier. If you want to chew on one so everybody thinks you're cool, knock yourself out.
 
I always thought people used binkies so they don't get a sore jaw. Anyway, use magnesium, or just get rid of the binky.
 
i use a retainer.I used to have braces and had to wear em every night when i got them taken off 1 time i decided to put them on while i was rolling for some reason :S and felt sooooooo good and my jaw was fine the next day....i dont roll or trip without my retainer lol and retainer are less sus than binkies lol
 
well if your just looking to help with the pain you could do what you said, chew gum befor. idk if right befor will help much but if you were just to chew gum daily you will get your jaw stronger and used too being on the grind. for the pain next day, try and get some vics/oxys.

Magnesium citrate is the real deal.
 
personally, i dont use anything to help with the jaw clenching

i chew through binkies in like an hour

and gum makes my jaw unbearably sore

so i just dont use anything, i just clench my jaw and deal with it, at least for me, that makes the soreness less the next day
 
Chew some good gum, like Stride. Also chew gum regularly. I chew gum ALL the time (always have) and so the jaw pain isn't that bad for me. I stopped chewing gum for a couple days and didn't think anything of it when I rolled later on (I did have gum for the roll) but the pain afterward was terrible. But yeah, chew gum regularly to make your jaw used to it I guess and for actually rolling.

I need to get some magnesium too, it should help as well.
 
If your chewing gum then remember to replace it and often - its all too easy to forget and end up chomping a piece of hard gum which will only make your jaw sore.

Magnesium can help in reducing the need to chew but it wont stop you chewing on a pacifier if thats what you want to do. The thing is if you take magnesium and still use your pacifier you will not be chewing as hard as what you normally would and this will help reduce the risk of a sore jaw.

Ibroprofen will reduce the pain the following day.
 
Please remember if your new to magnesium to try it a few days prior to your roll as it can give you an upset stomach (and Im not talking about the standard coming up crap either).
