Hi! my friend Sydney's meth stinks a lot! So he deceide to recrystallize it .

He tried with manys solvent sauch as acetone , iso propil, methanol, ethanol , toluen . He had some good result but the crystals or rock , are not hard solid , when you szeeze it or event just touch it a bit it goes to powder and it very flaky ...

What did he do wrong?
the original one are nice and solid ..

Should he tried with ether?

He never use water to wash or recrystallization because he's not sure what to do in the distallation , and with what he can mix the water

Im sure theres many tricks to get big chunk and solid rock or even like glass will be fine
Thanks for your help

Hi there, welcome to BDD :)

We don't use SWIM/my pet/my friend here - it doesn't protect you and people know what you mean. Unless it really is for your friend, in which case you should ask him to make the post ;)

I don't know the answer to your question I'm afraid, but why is it a problem if it is a powder and not rocks/shards?

Now for my reason of interest: would that work (washing process, don't care about recrystallization) with MDMA?

I understand the chemical "reactions" taking place, I guess I'm more asking the ADD version. Not looking for a technique, but more so asking how this particular procedure works with the methylenedioxy- part of the molecule.

*Reactions, I suppose isn't the correct word as we're only talking solutes / solubility, but whatever, it's past midnight and I'm ready for bed. :)

Yes, if done right it'll clean MDMA. However, if the MDMA has been cut with something that has very similar solubility (like PM[M]A), it'd be a lot more complicated. If I had contamination like that, I guess I'd throw it away.

Well, hopefully DanceSafe's new test kit for PMMA is effective. I have the other 3 they offer and am interested in adding this new one (even though I'm not in the presently afflicted areas, I trust no chemist's "molly").

Appreciate the info though, I'm interested in trying this next time I get a ball or more (may be a while, but regardless).
