I was diagnosed with schizoid personality disorder and was wondering if there's any others on here that are schizoids

Plus I've heard there gonna take out the cluster a personality disorders out of the new dsm book what the fuck is up with that

Here is a brief explanation for those a bit unclear on what this is:

Schizoid personality disorder is an uncommon condition in which people avoid social activities and consistently shy away from interaction with others. It affects more males than females. If you have schizoid personality disorder, you may be seen as a loner, and you may lack the desire or skill to form close personal relationships.

To others, you may appear somewhat dull or humorless. Because you don't tend to show emotion, you may appear as though you don't care about what's going on around you. Although you may seem aloof, you may actually feel lonely, even if it's hard for you to acknowledge. Or you may feel much more at ease being alone, and feel comfortable with your life. If you have schizoid personality disorder, you may not know how to form friendships, or you may feel too anxious around other people to try, so you simply give up and turn inward.

The cause of schizoid personality disorder is unknown. Therapy and — in some cases — medications can help.

If you have this condition, you're likely to:

  • Prefer being alone and usually choose solitary activities
  • Prize independence and have few close friendships
  • Feel confused about how to respond to normal social cues and generally have little to say
  • Feel little if any desire for sexual relationships
  • Feel unable to experience pleasure
  • Come off as dull, indifferent or emotionally cold
  • Feel unmotivated and tend to under perform at school or work

No I am not, but I'm sure I have some sort of personality disorder ;)

Hahaha don't we all
But it's kinda nice being labeled as something at least I no what's different about me has a name and I'm not the only one but I still don't tell the world oh I have schizoid personality disorder like nobody knows except for my parents and like 2 people
But it is a nice excuse to why I'm so weird hahaha and a good excuse to get out of hanging out with people

I have schizoid personality disorder (comorbid bipolar II primarily depressed / minor hypomania and ADHD inattentive).

It's just all combined to "schizotypal types". DSM-V (already came out).
Did this change actually happen? I thought no personality disorders were removed from DSM-V.

Damn were a lot alike I am diagnosed with the same exact description of bipolar II and ADD or ADHD inattentive but whether I'm bipolar with psychotic features or schizoaffective or the psychotic symptoms are from being schizoid (which my doc said could happen) is unknown at this point

Also a dream ur inbox is full so I can't send u another message hah

i'm schizophrenic anti social bipolar and have panic attacks so i don't have many friends and those who are my friends i don't usually want to kick it with so it's similar to schizoid personality disorder but i'm that way for different reasons i suppose

I'm actually not sure. I thought it did. I'm pretty sure it did. No personality disorders were removed but a few were combined. DSM-IV had 10 personality disorders. The DSM-V has only 5 (or 6--I can't remember).

Borderline Personality Disorder ( + histrionic maybe?)
Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder ( + dependent maybe? but I don't know about the rituals so maybe it'll be considered borderline)
Avoidant Personality Disorder
Schizotypal Personality Disorder (paranoid, schizotypal, and schizoid)
Antisocial Personality Disorder
Narcissistic Personality Disorder

Inbox cleared.

What sort of psychotic symptoms do you have? Last year I had psychotic symptoms for a few weeks (seeing objects that aren't there in the distance or in the dark, hearing unintelligible whispers/voices, intense feeling of malaise that lasted for a few seconds at a time along with the feeling of hearing many voices at once). It was almost certainly caused by drugs, but which one(s) I'm not sure. I took antipsychotics for a few months, and those symptoms went away, and never came back after I stopped taking them.

During the development process of the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental
Disorders (DSM-5), several proposed revisions were drafted that would have significantly changed the
method by which individuals with these disorders are diagnosed. Based on feedback from a multilevel
review of proposed revisions, the American Psychiatric Association Board of Trustees ultimately decided to retain the DSM-IV categorical approach with the same 10 personality disorders.
The proposed revisions that were not accepted for the main body of the manual were approved as an
alternative hybrid dimensional-categorical model that will be included in a separate chapter in Section
III of DSM-5. This alternative model is included to encourage further study on how this new methodology could be used to assess personality and diagnose personality disorders in clinical practice.

I stand corrected. I had no idea, I thought it already went though. It makes waay more sense to combine alike disorders.

My psychotic symptoms were paranoid delusions, magical thinking, internal voices and episodes of external, hallucinations but not seeing people like just random hallucinations like Ill go somewhere and find a straw in my pocket for snorting shit. Then ill put it back walk back home and I searched in my pocket and it was gone and was back in a spot in my room. Like shit like that where ill do something and it never happened makes me wonder how crazy I looked haha

I thnk you have to be 18 or older to be diagnosed and being schizoid great and horrible at the same time.
I like my life or am content with it but I don't function in society and people know that I'm weird and it just increases my social phobia and my stress because I get harassed to do more with my life even though I'm content with nothing and stress creates depression and drug use and amoung those things if my stress level is high enough can cause my psychotic symptoms to come back which is a pain in my ass.

Oh we'll at least the crazy feeling is gone and the I'm on the edge of losing control of my mind and reality is gone. That was the weirdest feeling because I've been through psychosis and my fear of losing my mind was nothing like psychosis the the fear pictured in my head was 1000 times worse then any psychosis I've been in. Although it could be a symptom of psychosis just not one I've expirienced to its full capability.
