Any Local Doctors That Can Prescribe Me Cannabis ?

A friends step mum had cancer over a year ago and she was in contact with a doctor in Victoria who was prescribing and providing her with medical grade cannabis. At the time my friend told me this to hook me up with the doctor so I could also try it for my own disabling neurological condition of 9 years which is "Autonomic Dysfunction" however I declined because at the time I was in the process of trialling opiate based pain medications.

But since then all of the Opiates I trialled have been a failure due to severe adverse reactions that I have experienced due to an unusual chemical sensitivity caused by my unstable Autonomic system. So I am now ready to try some alternative therapy but I no longer have contact with my mate as we drifted apart and he has now moved overseas.

I have searched online for a doctor that can help me but realized in the process that even medical use was illegal so then how was it possible for the doctor my friend mentioned to prescribe it to cancer patients ?

For me it is really important that the marijuana is specifically made for medical use because of my chemical sensitivity as there is absolutely no way my body can tolerate the strong street stuff available. Just to give you guys an idea... I have often ended up in the ER with severe adverse reactions causing hyperthermia, hypertnesion, bradycardia, irregular heart, respiratory depression, muscle spasm from just a single 5mg dose of oxycodone or 50mg tramadol or 30 mg codeine so there is no guarantees my body will accept the marijuana but at least with a medical weaker indica strain I stand a better chance particularly if I start of with a tiny amount of leaf and I don't overdo it.

I would appreciate any advice or doctors contacts for this matter, if all else fails how can I go about locating very weak strains of organic marijuana ?

PS> I live in the South Eastern Suburbs in Victoria and due to my disability I cant travel too far unsupervised so if there are doctors that can help me with this I prefer it to be very local.

Thanks

I'd say that someone is having a lend of you, if there was legal medical Cannabis in Australia we'd know about it.

Ok I see, so theres absolutely no exceptions with Marijuana use in Australia ?

In that case I would say the doctor was proabaly acting out of jurisdiction in order to help his patients because there is no way my friend would have lied about this. My mate is a very mature guy who doesnt joke about things like this, he takes my health very seriously, and I know for a fact his step mum has cancer as I have met her. He even offered me a sample off his step mums medical stuff for me to try but I couldnt gather the courage at the time to try it as my body was going through a very sensitive phase.

My chanes of locating the right type of Marijuana seem even more slim now. I wont be able to grow my own as my parents wont allow it but what if I discreetly planted a few seeds behind the shed and ripped them out before anyone recognized what they were.... Do new sprouted plants around 3 cm hight still contain any thc ?

I know of a lot of people who are told by their doctors to smoke weed for various conditions

I'm sure some even help them out because they know it's better than addictive pain killers they can prescribe

Newly sprouted plants contain little or no THC whatsoever

That will not be a viable option

Fair enough, I will scrap that idea then.

Again I would like to stress the point that there is no way I would be able to tolerate the regular street buds that people smoke, mainly due to the cardiovascular effects and the other psychoactive effects which would overwhelm my already exteremely sensitive Autonomic system, trust me my body is tottaly screwed and Im reminded of that everyday.

But at the same time I have read that an indica variety of medical marijuana can be very beneficial for my symptoms, so finding the right stuff could either make it or brake it.

I am unsure if smoking is the way to go then.

If your body doesn't respond well to many things and you want a more body, numbing stone (this is what most medical grade cannabis does when smoked because of a higher ratio of CBD to THC then most sativa dominant strains) you could well try eating cannabis products instead which will give you the pain relief numbing sensation , but will not be a functional high.

My advice is to find a strain (which places like http://www.compassioncorner.org/ will help you with finding) which fits the criteria of both high THC and high CBD content (to create a pleasant state not too high or to heavy) and find a friend who is willing to grow it on your behalf.

The main thing with Marijuana that many people don't realise is that alot of the messed up feelings people get are often from poorly stored buds breaking THC down into CBN's (which create a messed up high rather then a clear headed high) so you must ensure you store all properly cured buds in airtight containers (with no moisture) in total darkness (light and moisture breaks THC down into CBN's)
I know in New Zealand that there is a clause for the use of medical marijuana in the health system for certain patients (which is very interesting maybe Australia has one too) where the minister of Health personally has to sign there approval for the patient to use Medical Marijuana. As far as I am aware this has never been utilised.

Yeah id take a guess and say your mate might be in the dark as well. His step mum was probably at her end with standard medical treatments and went and got her self some weed, probably any weed at that.

Street grade weed is pretty strong BUT it depends how much you take. Maybe if you were to smoke not even a full puff but a small O size bit in a bong.

Although I don't know shit about, Autonomic Dysfunction. :D

there is no medical cannabis at all in australia ...

a few months ago I saw a article in the newspaper about a man who had been severly burnt and many years after still suffered pain as his nerve endings or something where damaged anyhow he used cannabis to help him and he got busted with plants in his yard ..went to court ... judge said feel sorry for you but law is the law ... he got off lightly but had to pain fine and also recorded conviction as well ..

Only people in the news or well know celebs suffering from a condition or a family member of theirs and then we might see medical being fast tracked ...

just go to the ACT,
technically, it's only allowed to be grown for personal use, but you can always grow yourself.

then again, who wants to live in the ACT...

Cannabis is not allowed to be grown here as you state. The cultivation of one plant only is deemed a non criminal offence. The police will still rip it out of the ground and give you a fine.

Personally I would recommend going out an buying an ounce of weed and just cooking it into cookies rather than smoking it

Excellent advice, thanks.

That made me LOL =D

cooking it into cookies rather than smoking it

The effects last longer when you eat it so Im concerened if my body happens to to totaly reject it then I would be stuck with the adverse symptoms longer. once I can determine the effects than I might look into cookies

I am hypersensitive to pot, don't know why but I am. I have very negative effects when I smoke even 1 cone. However I find that if I pack TINY cones - as small as possible - then I can get a rather nice, relaxing high. I don't do it often cause more often than not I overestimate and end up feeling shit. I would suggest doing something similar to what I do and just packing the smallest possible cones of whatever you can find to begin with. Give it at least 20 mins, if it hasn't had the desired effect then have another tiny cone.

I understand that you're smoking for medical purposes whereas my reasons are purely recreational, but the same rules should still apply I would think :)

yes as stated above a vap might be a good idea.
And yes i do believe pot is not allowed to be grown anymore in any state of Australia. ACT and S.A you used to be allowed a few plants or some crap, but alot of larger scale operations made it so they changed the laws so nothing is allowed. In NSW we have a thing called a cannibis caution or something, kind of like a warning so you dont goto court for small amounts, not sure if this is still going tho.
Basically the laws suck regarding pot and i think Howard had some part in that, but things may change, who knows... There's certainly alot going on in the media about it. Todays paper has this;
http://www.news.com.au/opinion/trac...edical-marijuana/story-e6frfs99-1225820679241
And USA and Canada have a huge amount of legal medicinal pot places, so maybe we might get it here too.
search youtube for 'in pot we trust' if you havent seen it.

That article claims "The dangers of smoking marijuana are well documented: mental illness, cancer, heart attack and immune disorders. Clearly, it shouldn't be legalised. But it should be available to alleviate suffering."

How common is heart attack from marijuana and is there a way to avoid it, say if you only smoked a very tiny amount ?
