My doc has tried me on one too many meds for my sleep/anxiety. Just recently I switched off ambien for seroquel, although I find seroquel to give the worst hangover feeling unless you get 10-12 hours of sleep. It doesn't help that much with anxiety also, but I'm only taking 50mg which is a very low dose.

My only benzo experience is the occasional Xanax or kpin. How does Temazepam compare to these? I'm not too fond of having a benzo perscribed as I have a friend who is terribly addicted to Xanax/Klonopin as well as an alcohol problem. I want to give restoril a shot though as nothing else has really worked as I wanted. Ambien came close, it put me in a nice calm state and I drifted to sleep very easily. The amnesia was the game breaker though, it's honestly terrifying how some nights I would remember absolutely nothing.

Temazepam is a hypnotic benzo, compared to alprazolam and clonazepam, which are both primarily anziolytic (one short-duration and one long-duration). It has a fairly short duration (albeit longer than alprazolam) but is generally considered to be a good drug for sleep - and it allows normal REM sleep to occur.

It is considered by many people to be one of the more recreational benzos, which can be a problem if you are just trying to use it for a medical condition, and tolerance does develop, and as with all benzos it is addictive, but if you aren't getting on with your current medication it is worth discussing temazepam with your doctor I think as well as considering whether you would be able to take it as-needed only or if you think you would find that difficult..

Over here it is hard to get it prescribed for more than 2 weeks due to the problem of addiction and tolerance, plus rebound insomnia, but it is different elsewhere.

I for one do not like this benzo at all, but to each his own I presume ;)

Hehe indeed, it's my favourite but benzo enjoyment is very subjective!

I find the combination of temazepam and clonazepam helps me sleep the best out of anything i've tried (xanax; trazadone; zoloft; mirtazipine; the list goes on..)
I take 30mg Temazepam and 1mg of Clonazepam

I find that if you can force yourself to only take them for sleep; never during the day; and not every night of the month ... (like when I drink or smoke a lot) then they work just fine. Sure you don't want to be taking benzos forever but hey certainly help me.

I find that temazepam has the worst blackouts of any benzo if overdone, purposefully or on accident. On alprazolam I at least have what I call ''Polaroid Snapshots'' if I blackout, where I can recall some of what I did or where I was because of these images in my head. With temazepam, the blackouts are just that: black. There is nothing. I cannot recall a single thing I did or place that I went during my intoxication. I have been arrested or woken up in the detox tank in jail several times. I once got two, yes TWO Public Intoxication charges at the same time under the influence of temazepam. How the fuck do you even do that?!?

Anyways, man, in my experience temazepam isn't all that great. I never really found it to be euphoric, plus I seemed to build a tolerance to it much faster than any other benzo I've ever taken for whatever reason. I'd say it's one of the lesser benzos (IMHO).

More than anything, man, watch out for those blackouts. They are pretty fucked up and intense. Worst I've ever had, and I've had hundreds (definitely not bragging about that).

yea blackouts can occur and its most likely with hypnotic benzos then the others but usually thats just with higher dosage (for me at least) or when combine with any amount of alcohol. if you dont want to black out just keep dosage around the 30mg and avoid consumption of any amount of alcohol. temazapam plus couple hits of weed equals bliss for most though. worst comes to worst you get a good nights sleep.

Yeah I'll talk to my doc about it then. What do you mean by blackout though? Is that in a "passing out" or fainting sort of sence, or rather being conciois and having no recollection? If it's the later then I know all too well what it's like due to my ambien experiences. Before I knew it had an amnesia side effected I managed to net myself in the hospital for the night only to wake up in my bed with NO memory of it & q hospital band around my wrist.

That's why I asked to get off that shit, my benzo experience is minimal but I've had no experiences lime that. At most I found my memory to be very hazy the morning after a few kpins, but absolutely nothing like ambien. Shits a fucked up drug for sure, you're entirely helpless to anything going on.

Edit: also anything thing I was wondering about is the effectiveness of temp in regards to eating. With ambien I found I couldn't eat a damn thing at least four hours before I intended to take it, having to choose between food or sleep is not an easy choice either. The effectiveness of it severely diminished though if my stomach wasn't entirely empty.

Well you can eat a lot like the infamous munchies known to the cannabis user, yeah ;)

But it's a little bit of hit and miss with these things ;)

To keep it simple. I take this drug for sleep. I have a long history of drug addiction. My doctor knew it when she gave me Temazepam. I take it every two to every three nights. I don't want to abuse drugs im 9months sober. I will admit it makes me feel warm and fuzzy right before I go to bed but I never stay up on it I just use it. It makes me sleep right away and it gives me a good nights sleep.

I never try to abuse it, I read about it being a great high but to me its a tool. I mean its on you buddy. I have tried every drug known to man, rc, legal, not legal. I have tried them all and abused them all. Including a long history of drugs to sleep not to mention drugs to wake up and drugs to do everything. I did xanex and booze for along time I did lorazapam I did ambiam lunesta, serquell, trazadone, and the list goes on. Temazepam is the best.

If you can get it, do. Don't abuse it, take it close your eyes go to sleep. If it gets you high enjoy it but don't try to stay up and abuse it and don't drink on it.
Like I said if you using it for whats its used for (sleep) its a great drug.

Trust me bro I know drugs, I got problems and I admit that. I told my doctor that. I was given it and it works. I knowing my self limit it to twice to three times a week max and I have no tollerance and im not addicted it works when I need it.
Just be carefull

Hey, good story, man ;)

Hope you the best <3 Benzos can bring you trouble, yeah that's for sure ;)

Yeah, I'm talking about blackouts where you are conscious (sort of, lol) and doing shit but you are completely on auto-pilot. It is far worse than Xanax or Ambien. I take Ambien, and for me it's a miracle drug, although I have abused it and blacked out before. However, it is a very short-lived blackout with Ambien. With temazepam, we're talking about an 18 hour complete blackout. You will remember absolutely nothing, unlike with Xanax, Klonopin, or Ambien, where you have little snapshot memories here and there, although you were blacked out, on auto-pilot and out of control.

I'm like Wolffangblackfoot: I am a fucking horrible former addict; I have used & abused every single drug you can think of and then some, no lie. i still have my problems, and I am hooked on opioids, but I am badly injured and I'm more dependent than addicted. I rarely abuse them b/c I need them every day, and I can't afford to run out.

I cannot take benzos. I have completely quit them. They destroyed my life. I have been hooked on them for nearly 9 years. I only recently was finally able to quit. I have been arrested due to temazepam, alprazolam, and clonazepam. I have also landed in a few mental hospitals, as well as real hospitals for heavy OD's (usually combined with several other drugs; barbs & opioids). I'm not trying to dicksize; I am not proud of these 'accomplishments', I'm just saying that those experiences STILL weren't enough to make me quit. Be extremely careful with benzos; they can grab you by the balls like nothing I've ever gone through in my life. I decided I didn't want that for myself anymore. It's been hard but I finally did it.

Be careful, man. Please be careful with that stuff. Peace & Love, bro.

^^^ never heard anyone blacking out for that long with this drug esp due to its relative short halflife.. thats quite odd. to OP i would say the blackout are comparable to those of ambien maybe a little worse. but if your comfortable with ambiens then you should be fine with temazepam. plus you looking for a drug with little to no side effects in the morning. compared to seroquel temazepam will be a god send in terms of hangovers in the morning. in fact i dont recall ever being that hung over even when i would use 120mg plus temazapam. so if you keep dosage as prescribe and only use say 5 nights a week you should be alright. good luck bud.

Wow thank you all for some quality posts. I honestly know what you mean though, my mother is perscribed ambien, ambien cr, klonopin, & Xanax. Not only that but she's an alcoholic. I have no idea HOW or WHO would give her that much medicine (were poor so state covers the cost), but many nights I need to call of work to babysit her only for her to remember nothing. She's admits she has a drinking problem but refuses to admit she has a drug one as well.

This is the main reason I'm hesitant about going for temp, I mean I would like to think I would havethe willpower not to abuse it. I've been perscribed vyvance(amphetamine) for years now, and I've never abuses that other than smoking weed once I've taken it occasionally. But I have terrible sleep issues (not related to amphetamine) & it seems like I'm pulling an all nighter once a week just to reset my clock. A few months ago I was seriously considering to go on Xanax for my anxiety but decided against it as I've seen what it's done to people who always use it. I guess this is something I should really talk to my doc about, but it's nice knowing there are others to give their personal experiences and opinions on the matter so thank you

as for the part about amphetamine abuse, ive been on adderol for a while, just got switched to dextroamphetamine, after trying the d-amp IV I now realize I have a speed problem. I never had this with adderol, because I hated how it made me feel, but with the D-amp, its very smooth. And if I go the IV route it gets bad, the high is comparable to coke, and so is the crash. atleast in my opinion. btw im comparing IV Dextro to just taking lines of blow, it is not in any way similar to IV coke.
