As title says. All my friends say Delsym is much better than any hbr dxm. I know it lasts longer and is more smooth of a high but i kinda don't believe them

dunno if the taste of the delsym threw me off, but i didn't like the buzz... maybe it was my imagination. can't even describe how it was different exactly, so this post is probably very little help to you... the taste was just awful so i always went with robogetls or the robo syrup actually tasted kind of good to me.... idk.

i always preferred HBr. the biggest difference is poli half the strength, twice as long (weaker mg per mg than HBr but lasts way longer.) HBr is a shorter trip, but is stronger. for example 600mg of HBr is like 3rd plat (varying by weight) and will last like 6 hours. 600mg pilot will feel like 300mg HBr (2nd plat-ish) but last like 12hr.
i preferred HBr due to it being more intense and not lasting so long. a lot of people like poli because it’s less intense and tends to feel a bit cleaner. lot of people like how long it lasts too. ik a lot of my friends back when we would robotrip liked poli more. there were a few times where i preferred poli but most times hbr was my fav. it’s up to you, it’s really just personal preference. give it a try if you want
there’s also freebase, which is about 1.3x more potent than HBr by weight (300mg freebase = 390mg HBr). it hits faster and lasts for less time too. the difference in effects between these is really subjective.

also my friend said it was more hallucinagenic. Since i hardly get any visuals from hydrobromide even on a plat 4 is this true?

TL;DR for if you want to skip the chemistry lesson in the rest of this post:
freebase doesn’t exclusively apply to crack, for something to be “freebase” that simply means the chemical existing in base form and not formulated into a hydrochloride or (in the case of DXM) hydrobromide salt. crack cocaine is cocaine in it’s chemical freebase form, regular cocaine is cocaine formed as a hydrochloride salt. not all freebase chemicals are smokeable like crack. many meds exist as a freebase, it’s just a form that many substances and chemicals can exist in. so DXM freebase is a formulation of DXM that you can buy and take like any other DXM product. that’s all that freebase in this case is referring to. you can buy DXM freebase on some sites, tho it’s less common and it has minor differences to the DXM HBr (hydrobromide) that makes up the vast majority of DXM in most products
nono, freebase is just a different form for the chemical to come in. instead of DXM hydrobromide it’s DXM freebase. the hydrobromide communicates what form the chemical comes in. for example “hydrobromide” is an acid salt composition of the chemical, usually because being a hydrobromide helps it’s solubility in water and use in the body. something being “freebase” simply means that the chemical is in it’s most neutral state, it’s free of different variations in formulation like hydrobromides. DXM hydrobromide is basically DXM chemically reacted with a type of acid and formed into a kind of salt. DXM freebase is basically DXM and DXM alone, no chemical reaction or salt formulation, simply the DXM molecule on its own
to give an example, most people hear “freebase” and think of crack. crack is a form of cocaine, specifically the freebase form of cocaine. it’s cocaine without any other chemical attachment or formulation. the cocaine that you put up your nose is generally cocaine hydrochloride. that hydrochloride is similar to the hydrobromide of DXM. a hydrochloride is formed upon a chemical reaction to hydrochloric acid. the cocaine is reacted with hydrochloric acid to become cocaine hydrochloride. that formulates the cocaine molecule into a hydrochloride salt, which is usually done to make chemicals water soluble and more stable. a large amount of meds exist as a hydrochloride- zoloft, oxycodone, and benadryl are all examples of meds that are hydrochlorides. but in cocaine’s “base” chemical form, without any salt formulations like hydrochloride or hydrobromide, is freebase cocaine (otherwise known as crack.) when people cook up crack, they’re using a basic chemical reaction to turn the existing cocaine hydrochloride into cocaine in it’s freebase, smokeable form. not all freebase chemicals are smokeable or like crack. freebase is simply a state that the chemical can exist in, a form of the chemical.
the terms freebase, hydrobromide, hydrochloride apply across much of all chemistry. not all substances can exist stably in a freebase form, but many can. cocaine/crack is the most common colloquially recognized freebase chemical. but other common freebase substances include albuterol (the med in inhalers), ephedrine, some forms of nicotine. freebase is simple a state for the chemical to exist in.
