You're missing the point. You made a second post asking why you weren't getting responses and when I responded, you were childish and rude. And I'm not the only person turned off by it.
I carry have used narcan ~10 times and been narcaned maybe ~20 times. It's an unpleasant experience but absolutely works as advertised. We get it in ampuoles from needle exchange, I recommend 1 CC IM for an overdose, if they aren't breathing on their own in 2 minutes (be rescue breathing for goodness sake) give them another 1CC. They'll want to punch you, but they'll live. You should probably also call an ambulance, although I have been saved sans hospitalization like i said ~20 times which is ridiculous I know, but I'm definitely glad it's around.

Damn there's a lot of people getting their feelings hurt over some shit a stranger says.But OT: An EMT friend of mine said that naloxone has a short duration of action and if someone has taken a really large dose of heroin or whatever they can end up going back out after 10 minutes or so,requiring them to be hit with narcan again and again.Does anyone know if the OTC naloxone is a multi use or single use shot,spray or whatever?It would seem that it would need to be supplied in at least a 3 dose applicator just to make sure the buyer has enough on hand,otherwise they could end up not knowing what to do when the friend they thought they saved goes back out.As others have pointed out,I've heard that it's a hellish experience.A couple of friends who have been given naloxone by EMTs say they felt like they were dying,thats how bad the precipitated withdrawls were.One guy said he was sort of convulsing it was so severe.It's good they are making it OTC though.I've had to bring several people back and it totally ruins your high when you have to keep someone else alive by rescue breathing,CPR,picking up essentially dead weight and walking them around untill they come around etc....all because they couldn't handle their dope,ate a bunch of benzos you didn't know about etc....Especially if it's in your house and you've got a bunch of drugs and/or paraphenalia in your home and you know that in addition to losing a friend you could end up doing some time because of all the shit you got.Totally ruins the evening but you do what you gotta do.I would have loved to have some naloxone injectors on hand back in my dope shooting days.At least it would have only ruined their highs lol.

Anyone here have experience obtaining naloxone in California? Is it covered my Medicare/MediCal? Is it possible to administer a dose to yourself before you fall out? Smoked not IVed but almost always used in conjunction with large doses of alcohol. Stupid I know but I dont crave dope until Im drunk. And Ive been drinking a lot lately.
Lol feeling hurt? Where are you getting that from? I can only speak for myself, but I don't think anyone who has responded to the OP's behavior is upset. Bluelight is a community focused on harm reduction and it wouldn't exist without dedicated, knowledgeable members. If you make a thread in OD, you should expect and be mature enough to handle feedback. Being childish and rude just detracts from any discussion.
I'm in California and haven't obtained it myself but have seen it used. Mostly by emergency responders though, so you might want to Google CA laws on obtaining and carrying naloxone.
But no, if you're overdosing it's highly unlikely you'd be able to administer it to yourself. Having naloxone in that scenario would be next to useless. I've never heard of anyone overdosing from smoking heroin, though I've had non IV user friends die with heroin among the many drugs in their system. I would absolutely not combine two CNS depressants. But if you're going to do it anyway, wait until the alcohol is wearing off to smoke and don't use any other drugs.

just so you know, they don't provide it in a normal nasalspray-bottle here. they give out the ampuoles with a special nasal syringe. basically it is a normal syringe with a cone shaped end..... and no, cave bear, i don't plan on ever using it myself lol its purpose is to be able to help someone that ods.
