Misc Anxiety

^ I use that on occasion, subtle yet often very effective. Glad to hear you got some much needed rest.

I have been looking for kava kava, What are good vitamins? and what herbal teas? I am limited with my excerise, running fucks me up , and I can't really lift.

In NY the age is 18 for kava kava but the herbal shop I got it from never checked my ID in the past, and despite being 22, I look fairly young. Not sure about other states or countries.

nope. just go into a health food store (if you have a whole foods nearby, that's a good place to start) and buy a bottle. otherwise you can order online.

Nope.

Look into Omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, Multi-vitamins (to ensure you're meeting your recommended daily intake), definitely kava kava for the relaxation/anxiolysis. Most people are deficient in magnesium too, do some reading!

If you have anxiety as a young adult, then you need exercise and a "friend" most likely. In terms of natural supplements: the valerian root will help with general anxiety and the kava-kava will help with social anxiety (IME). Both of these will work much better after a long day of hard work and/or physical activity. If you are a minor, then you should ALWAYS communicate with your parent/guardian and/or doctor about any and all OTC meds and supplements you are taking or are thinking about taking! 8o

Oh okay , Idk PA is a bit of a bitch when it comes to age laws. I don't like talking to my parents about that stuff they get over concerned.

^^^ this (tricomb's post)

you should also already be taking omega-3 (and all the other Omegas) about three times a day. also some good herbs for anxiety are passionflower and valerian. I usually take passionflower, valerian, and kava in combination, it also gives you very vivid (and sometimes lucid) dreams after taking them.

This makes sense, I definitely wouldn't sell a bottle of kava kava extract to a fifteen year old kid. In some countries, kava kava is served in bars just like alcohol. And in other countries (India, I believe) it is combined with alcohol and served in bars/clubs. This is actually very dangerous though, since both are CNS depressants! 8o But, I think the key is moderation and also consider tolerance and previous exposure. I personally have tried kava kava mixed with a few beers, the effect was very nice...

Maybe you could try a melatonin and valerian root blend? I bought one from walgreens that has valerian root, passion flower, hops, and lemon balm. It works decently for sleep, and if you added melatonin would probably help your insomnia.

Do you take any medication on a daily basis for pain? Morphine, hydrocodone, tramadol?

I was going to suggest propanonol for anxiety. It is a beta blocker (prescription only) that has an off label use for anxiety. I take it whenever I have to speak in public. It works really well, I used to have horrible panic attacks in college and when I first started working. If you have asthma, very low blood pressure, or take certain medications you can't take it though.

I would avoid the kava, I have a friend who is an RN and recently treated a young lady who has liver damage which they suspect was caused by taking kava. There have been some studies that it can cause lliver damage.

Since most people on this site (myself included) tend to go a little overboard whith medications, I think it would be better if you were on something else, even xanax.

I am taking gabapentin right now for opioid withdraw, but i have noticed it really helps with anxiety, i feel so calm and relaxed and no anxiety at all, im usually pretty anxious but this makes me want to talk to people....it might help, and the withdraw from it is probably not as bad as benzos when you decide to stop taking meds..
