Obviously not on it but off of it. Makes sense? :paranoid: I guess that's why they're so addicting. I feel as though they escalade and worsen my fears and anxiety when I start taking it. But when I'm off of it, I'm in more control..? BUT I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER.

Ugh, the dilemma.

You basically answered your own question.
But because they have this effect on you it would be wise to avoid them and tackle the cause of the INITIAL anxiety without them.
In the long run you will be better off.
Thinking of not having something on hand to get through a situation will cause anxiety. The benzos will just mask it and not solve it.

Good luck.

I agree that Benzo's are only a mask, not a cure. My brain didn't like them sometimes either because it knew what was happening; I was trying to cover up the issues instead of addressing them and that created unmanageable anxiety on its own. We truly are complex and amazing creatures.

the sad truth of self-medicating. anti-depressants are the only drugs I can think of that actually benefit those with mental ailments without inducing a myriad of problems later on, and these often don't work for people with more severe ingrained neuroses . it's really inevitable that you have to just hack away at it yourself and immerse yourself in whatever you're afraid of, even if it is unimaginably uncomfortable.
