I'm prescribed to take 10 mg of oxycodone daily for chronic pain. Lately I've been experiencing major anxiety attacks. Every time I take one 5mg pill I get extreme dysphoria, panic and fear that I'm going to have a heart attack. My heart races and I get even more worried. I'm fairly healthy and only in my 20s. Is there any way to prevent this anxiety or any way to experience euphoria? I use to take 20mg every 4 hours a couple of years ago after a surgery and was perfectly calm and feeling good taking that dose. For some reason, things have changed. Any thoughts?

Well I would say an anti anxiety drug like Xanax, Klonopin, Valium but mixing depressants can be very dangerous so I'd advise against that. If you do however do that take very low doses of the anti anxiety drug, no matter what it would be. Some people will say weed, I personally dont like weed anymore as it is, but depending on personal preference it could get the job done. Or instead of 5mg you could take the whole 10mg at once unless you simply can't do that because of the pain. You could always look into things like Propanol, which is a drug to lower blood pressure but it also used as an anxiety agent, but not sure what would help you the best, or at all. Its strange you've been having panic attacks though.

I feel like ever since my surgery I've developed some sort of anxiety disorder. I've been smoking weed as well for the better part of 3 years but I've begun to take a week or so off each month. Perhaps the anxiety stems from the weed as well? It's not just with the pills it's with everything. Even if I eat fast food I worry that I'm going to have a heart attack. I'd be willing to try benzos to help with it but the physical pain is much more crippling on my daily life so I'd rather keep that under control. Another idea I've been thinking is that maybe since I've been taking opiates for so long (on and off 3 years) it changed the way my body reacts to it so now when I take them my body tries to reject it. Is that a thing?

I tend to read an anecdote about opioids causing anxiety every here and there. Maybe you can change to a different one?

Don't add depressants to the mix.
