Depression is a spiritual problem. To overcome it, you have to believe in something greater and better than yourself.
Ya thats only your opinion and your entitled to it. But i think my depression (well actually bipolar depression most likely) is due to a chemical imbalance.
Ive never tried ketamine but i have to say that since ive been put on seroquel my mood has improved greatly. My moods are no longer going up and down like a yo yo on acid and i no longer get those black depressions where i can barely even think.Helios.

(Btw, I can attest from experience that a small dose of seroquel is capable of "cancelling" a major episode in either direction with bipolar.)Helios.

Yep, PCP does work to an extent in my experience, and its effects are very long-lasting (I still feel it a week later). However, its efficacy is not as "perfect" as Ketamine's.
Plus, PCP has some strange side effects (such as completely irrelevant semi-psychotic ideas) even at a sub-psychedelic dose.
Since we're on the subject... I found that DXM doesn't work at all. Nitrous works well but the effects fade quickly (but it has a wonderful "purifying" effect on feelings and thoughts). I really want to try Memantine and/or Adamantine to see if they work.
My amature theory is that some kinds of depression (melancholia, suicidal thoughts, constant anxiety...etc) might be caused by over-activity in the Amygdala, and that some NMDA antagonists are able to attenuate this over-activity.
I would appreciate any informed cretique or opinion on this idea...
rats whose amgdalas were electrically stimulated showed classic fear responses. which would correspond to anxiety and feelings of impending doom in humans. Chemical warfare research in this field is still highly classified but it is rumoured that several chemicals were identified that induced fear in animals.
The amygdala is an old brain structure so it might have conserved receptors that are only located here rather than in the more evolutionary recent brain, these receptors if they exist would be a useful target.

cck-b antagonists would be useful if it indeed is the amygdala causing anxietyGABAlover

It's this kind of primitive misinformation that contribrutes to the profound ignorance of mental health issues.
