antidepressants ???bupropion

lol you cant really DO antidepressants. you'd have to take them for over 2 weeks before you felt something. and that feeling would only be a better mood i think

sounds good to me:]

The hardest thing about AD's is that you need to find one that fits you, which can take years.. Bupropion (Wellbutrin) is more of a speedy anti-depressant that acts as a norepinephrine/seratonin /dopamine reuptake inhibitor. Not so good if your prone to anxiety.

There are ones that are better for anxiety, depression, patients who are looking not to gain weight from there med, patients who have adhd with depression or anxiety, etc... what are you looking for?

Also, if you are a smoker and are looking to quit smoking - bupropion will drastically reduce cravings for nicotine.

So it's both an antidepressant and a quit smoking agent. It's actually a very good antidepressant. Give it a few weeks (6-8 weeks) and see how it goes.

Good advice in this thread, but I get the idea you are more asking if you can abuse buproprion. Antidepressants don't have a recreational value --- I've heard people say this one is a little speedy, but I took it for a bit and the anxiety was overwhelming. You don't "do" antidepressants like you "do" recreational drugs, that's for sure.

^ What purple_cloud said is very true. Buproprion is said to have "speedy" effects, but not "speedy" like amphetamines or methylphenidate or cocaine. It's NOT abusable.

actually it's mechanism of action is similar to methylphenidate, but not as strong therefore not really suitable for recreational use.

Bupropion is a great anti-depressant...it is the only one I will use to help with my periods of depression. Very motivating, reduced cravings to smoke. Does have a tendency to increase anxiety, tho. Not recreational by any means..And if you try taking a lot to get fucked up..you'll regret it.

Yes, that's exactly what my post meant. It may have a similar mechanism of action to methylphenidate, but it's not recreational. There are a lot of non-recreational drugs that have similar mechanisms of action to recreational drugs, but they just aren't recreational.
Bupropion is not alone in this aspect.

The only people ive known to abuse bupropion are people who have no access to other drugs aka people doing time in prison. The same people tend to take seroquel, amitriptyline, mirtazapine and even old drowsy typical anti-psychotics like methotrimeprazine and chlorpromazine when they need to sleep off the boredom.

I take bupropion SR 150mg twice a day and although it helps my bipolar depression, SAD and helps with the oversleeping and gives me abit of energy it does not get me high at all. It can make you anxious but thats not a high now is it? Also the anti-depressant effects of bupropion take atleast a week to start to kick in and a good 2 weeks to fully work.

dont you get seizures if you had too many?i dont think its recreation able

Yes, bupropion lowers seizure threshold. Taking too much will cause seizures.
It's just simply not an abusable drug.

If you are looking for a stimulant buzz, get Adderall, Dexedrine, Ritalin, methamphetamine or cocaine.
