Antidepressants and Vicodin

A few years ago I was using opiates very heavily. Just recently, I have started to take some again. I am currently prescribed celexa and has taken percocet, morphine CR, and vicodin while on this medication. I felt the effects of all of these except for the vicodin (25mg). About 2 weeks ago, I was prescribed wellbutrin in addition to the celexa. A few days ago, I took 50mg of hydrocodone (norco 10/325) and felt no euphoria, just a little drowsy. The next day, I took 70mg with the same result. I then took a day break inbetween those doses and then took a combined dose of 80mg (30mg then 50mg about an hour and a half later) using CWE.

Does anyone know anything about wellbutrin or other antidepressants cancelling out the effects of vicodin? If so, do they also affect other opiates? As I said, I felt the percocets very intensely, but that was before the wellbutrin was added. However, the vicodin still didnt work before the wellbutrin with only the celexa. Any help or input would be much appreciated!

we do not use swim on bluelight. read your post to find out why; other people have to read that too. or are nice enough to.


i never had any problem with opiates (including hydrocodone) when i was taking an ssri. i'm not saying it is safe. i am not saying there is no interaction. i am just saying i didn't notice anything different.


lots of people have a specific drug from a class of drugs that doesn't do it for them like the others. maybe hydrocodone just isn't your thing.
 
Sorry about the swim thing, I noticed that after. The thing is, I used to do hydrocodone a lot in the past and have always felt the effects.

Antidepressants dulled every life expirience possible ime. I felt like it drained a significant amount of euphoria from my choice of recreational drugs and life in general
 
My anti-depressant hasn't effected me in anyway actually. It's like I'm taking a pill full of nothing. I'm still as depressed than ever...actually worse now. Yet my drug use hasn't been effected except of course when I take mdma.
 
I'm on 150mg Wellbutrin/daily. Prior to Wellbutrin I'd get off on 30-40mg Hydrocodone or 2grams Kratom UEI. I still get off on those doses while on Wellbutrin. Wellbutrin hasn't affected my ability to get buzzed on the same opiate dose as before (thank God!).


How many mgs of Wellbutrin are you currently taking/day?
 
After awhile Hydrocodone just losses its magic. I can take up to 100mg of it at a time and barley feel it at all. It just makes me feel "normal"

But I can take 30-40mg Oxycodone IR and feel pretty good off that.

I was sure the cross tolerance between Hydro and Oxy would be more profound then this? I guess it just depends on the person....

Time to just stop this shit once and for all.. See how long that lasts.

I'm on 300mg of wellbutrin and 30mg of celexa. I started the celexa about 6 weeks ago and the wellbutrin about 2. While just on the celexa, I could still get really high off percs, but 25mg of vicodin did nothing, and then as I said, while on wellbutrin, 80mg of hydrocodone did barely anything at all. Just took some oxy so hopefully it will work!
 
I have experienced the same thing with wellbutrin and hydrocodone. It seems as if the wellbutirn takes away the hydrocodone effect, even though it still works on the pain in my leg. But if I want to get a "rush" off the hydro, I don't take the wellbutrin at least a day before to let my system air out a bit. Also, I noticed recently it cancelled out the loperamide *(spelling) sensation.
However, the wellbutrin alone I have found out minimizes my wd's from the hydro. Makes me not feel as agitated and also two positives it made me loose a shit load of weight and it cuts back my smoking urges, which of course is what it is perscribed for in certain occasions.
 
it depends on whether or not you believe hydrocodone's painkilling effects come from either procured hydromorphone, or by directly binding onto receptors. even though the answer is unclear, i do think that inhibition of 2D6 would make hydrocodone's effects weaker rather than stronger. wellbutrin is a substrate and i believe a slight inhibitor of 2D6 which will cause less hydrocodone to be converted into hydromorphone.

however while hydrocodone's strength is diminished by these AD's, oxycodone will seem more potent from these substancess


opiates and wellbutrin both lower the seizure threshold, but nothing too drastic( tramadol, tapentadol, and other dual-acting opiates have more potential to cause seizures). if taken in therapeutic doses and amounts that the doctor prescribes, than the likely-hood of convulsions is slim, unless you have pre-existing psychological conditions like epilepsy
