Antidepressants and 7 1/2 months pregnant

Well the general consensus is to probably avoid taking any anti-depressants unless as a last resort scenario.

By a bunch of internet strangers with no knowledge of her medical condition other than the fact she is pregnant. We have no idea how severe her mental illness is and whether or not she is currently a risk to herself or her child.

If you want a second opinion you are best seeking one within the medical fraternity, not among a bunch of drug taking nit wits on the internet. Even a trained physician would refuse to diagnose such a complex matter to an internet stranger.

I apologize. I let my own predispositions towards a specific treatment cloud objective advice. Again, sorry. -db-

I have spoke with my ob and my pdoc, they strongly advise me to take them but they said in the end it is up to me.

I would still advise not to. Everyone advised me to take anti-depressants too. Got rid of them after they were prescribed to me. The number of people I know who have had their lives ruined by SSRIs.... just not worth it. It's like, you're a robot. You don't feel much.

I would seriously recommend therapy. That has helped me sooooo much more!!!!

SSRI's are just not that effective unless you have severe clinical depression.

personality disorders require counselling, you cant solve them with drugs. they are about learning what makes you tick and managing your impulses.

you need excercise and a good diet and to and see someone about how you think and to learn to manage your impulsive feelings which borderlines often have difficulty with.

plus prozac is a bitch to withdraw from

what have you been doing to warrant prozac- self harm? suicide attempts? because if so it might help but it really has drawbacks

The research is available for perusal. Measurable human birth defects are one thing, but dissected infant brains tell a story that observational human trials can't.

The one drawback: the brains belong to rodents.

Even they wouldn't be so irresponsible to diagnose a stranger over the phone, let alone the internet

doctors have changed prescriptions in ireland for my gran taking her off temazepam for sleep after ten years of daily use and giving her amitryptiline and she had panic attacks, her arms went numb and resps up to 40+ a min. we got her back on it but she was really in a bad way and has had heart attacks previously.

so yes they are at times only as good as humans and humans come in varying quality.

find a different doctor and get some counselling for the borderline issues minimum
