I'm natty, and will remain natty for 18-36 more months. However, I've begun to recently take an interest in estrogen-blockers/anti-estrogens? I eat plenty of broccoli for the anti-estrogen properties, and I've been thinking of supplementing with grape-seed extract due to the reported anti-estrogen benefits.

I'm a complete newb when it comes to these; my knowledge of anti-estrogens is minimal to say the least. Perhaps some of you can fill me in with the basics? Reputable compounds for beginners, etc? You lot - especially Voxide and Guido - seem to know what you're talking. Other boards are filled with misinformation and it's frustrating..

Estrogen is necessary. Taking chemical measures to block it will actually prevent you from making gains, raise your cholesterol, and shoot your sex drive to shit. The key is to find a perfect balance, and since using AAS will knock these hormones out of balance, AI's are needed to fix them. A natty lifter has nothing to worry about.

Just continue with the brocolli and stay away from recreational drugs if you don't want your estrogen to rise to detrimental levels. Hormones aren't nearly as important as food is.

And yeah, Grape seed indeed lowers estradiol a bit. Whether the shit actually does anything to boost strength or recovery isn't clear but it probably doesn't.

You aren't on Testosterone Replacement Therapy, you aren't on cycle, and you don't have breast cancer so I see no reason to use an anti-estrogen. Right now you body is in a hormonal balance so there is no need to take anything.

In regards to anti-estrogens and estrogen blockers we have two types. SERMs (Selective estrogen receptor modulators) and AIs (Aromitase inhibitors). Both have different uses and different properties and they outlined in the links I provided. Basically SERMs will stop estrogen from binding to specific receptors in the body while AIs will stop estrogen from forming in the first place.

What you may want to do though is avoid compounds called xenoestrogens and also avoid recreational drugs at all cost if you are serious about bodybuilding.

In these 18-36 months to get your feet wet, I really advise looking into creatine. It's one of the non steroidal supplements that actually works.

Thanks fellas. I'm currently not using any creatine at the moment, but I do use it about 3-4 months each year. Good advice on the rec drugs, I'm currently about a month clean from a bad OC and coke habit.
