Anthony Mundine - Victim of the Media, or First Class Dickhead?

america's constitution and rights only apply if you are american.... in much the same way that if someone does something ethically "bad" in australia people come out and say it was "unaustralian"....
and good call about mike tyson by the way.... someone should write to them about that....
as for cAmmAc: is it possible for a moderator to delete or at least edit this post? it makes me sick...
or at least put it in the american social... our board shouldn't tolerate such ignorant crap.

Fuck oath
Delete that post please. I take offence to it, I have Koori heritage (my great grandma) and that really shits me.
Im tempted to offer sorting the problem out Mundine style...but thats just dumb.

Funny when you think about it. A whole bunch of people here think that Mundine or anyone for that matter should be given free speech. Yet you don't want cAmmAc to voice his opinion. Sounds slightly hypocritical. I'm not saying I agree with cAmmAc but I hardly think it's a totally unfair comment when the facts are that there is a higher percentage of uneducated indiginous Australians than European Australians. It's a simple fact that just can't be denied. It's also a disturbing fact and I admit that this problem was cuased by white Australians and that proper reconciliation must be made but this is not the point we are arguing here. cAmmAc was simply refering to this education factor when he was trying to give his opinion of Mundine's level of intelligence. He was just commenting on the probable background of Mundine. There is surely some truth to the comment then. Whether the comment offended anyone or not (and it is offensive) does not mean that it does not hold any truth. Seems like everyone in society is scared of hearing the truth becuase it could be racist, politically incorrect or damage the "democracy" that the US is trying to "enforce" throughout the world. Just food for thought anyway and before people start flamming me as well please remember that I am not saying that I support cAmmAc's comments. I do however recognise his right to free speech. I also recognise that he is making his opinion based on some limited facts and on probability. Also if anyone is unsure as to the distribution of education standards accross Australian ethnic groups then just ring up the Australian Bureau of Statistics. It's a free call I'm sure. Again I stress the point that I strongly am against cAmmAc's comment and I view it as highly offensive but he should be allowd to make it and not have it deleted by the mods.
If you view Mundine's comment as having a valid point behind it but not communicated well then you also have to give the same amount of freedom to cAmmAc's comment.
A fair go for all indeed.

I hate political correctness. I believe people should be unfettered to speak their views, provided they can back up their assumptions with a rational argument. If that is lacking, fuckem.

We have to differentiate between free speech and outright racism though.
Cammac's comment was blatanly derogatory and even though I take no personal offence (I am not so stupid to call myself Aboriginal) it was a poor joke, in bad taste, made at the expense of others.
I dont really give a shit if the post comes down or not.....but fuk...have some fuckn respect for other people.
Think of how an actual koori would feel if they read that comment. Think of how you'd feel if it was directed towards you own race whatever that may be.

Yeah I do agree dr rico yi. I'd feel hurt if I was an indiginous person that read cAmmAc's comment as well. On the otherhand what is true free speech though? What borders on the unnacceptable? I just wonder where the line should be drawn that's all.

Yes cammac's post was outta line and insulting, but it wasn't intentionally inflamatory... I don't think it needs to be edited or deleted, I can't go around censoring people just because they have a tactless and tasteless sense of humour (or so it seems in this instance)

wut stylin, bill and pac.man said.
so much for freedom of speech. They can say wut ever they wish about afghans & muslims, do wut ever they want to them but the minute we say something bout the u.s and it's actions...
...God help us all.
it's these double standards that shit me.

First of all hes just a boxer, not a politician, it doesnt matter what he said. He said some dumb things with some elements of truth, and it is the wrong time to say something like that. Fair enough if people think hes wrong and they tell him so. It is unfair though for his career to be ruined over this.
What do america say they are fighting for? freedom? democracy?
the right for people to say what they believe?
now they will not let him fight in america because of something he said.
it makes no sense to me.

I know this has probably already been said but hes a money making machine, hell he didnt even win in the fight before the big KO fight last week!
he will and always will be a publicity generated money making tool:
hes in with don king. so,
hes off to America after 4 or so more fights. so,
imagine how much of a hornets nest hes stirred up there, everyones gonna pay, and bet, good money to see him get thrashed, and if he wins a few then hey! don kings gona make another 1000000million, but thats how boxing is as soon as it went pro. and always will be with all money driven sport.

yeah he's been treated really badly by the boxing promoters who have barred him and stripped him of his ranking, and the whole thing reeks of hypocrisy. especially when you see some of the offensive anti-muslim/anti-afghan "jokes" made by american leaders and politicians on US tv. i think it's disgusting that he should be treated so harshly for voicing an opinion. this is the kind of macarthyist nonsense that i thought even the americans had gotten over. for the record, i agree with what some of you interpret his remarks as: that the US government provoked terrorist attacks with their foreign policy in the middle east. yes, i think there are large elements of truth in this statement. the global hegemony the US has created is destructive and unfair to much of the world. i agree.
BUT mundine is still a dickhead. he should've been fully aware that the media were trying to coax a controversy out of him. they've done it before to him and to others. he should know better by now than to shoot his mouth off with an inarticulate statement that could be easily misinterpreted. if he wanted to get his view out he should've used his brain and his profile to do it properly, not with some half-cooked throwaway line about the yanks "deserving it". but no, he knew he was saying something controversial and he let it slip out because he *wanted* the controversy and attention. that sort of outcry is the bread and butter upon which he's made most of his name. without it he would be just some talented ex-footballer trying to be a talented boxer. he brought this controversy on himself deliberately, and it looks like it's backfired.
mundine is a public figure. he has made himself a public figure of his own choice. he should know by now the responsibilities that come with the priviledges of fame. he works the media as much as they work him. he has no right to complain just because he's miscalculated and made a stupid, insensitive and inarticulate comment.
that's my humble opinion.

Obviously everyone that's upset with my post didn't see the

Tell me you've never told or sniggered at an Aboriginal joke, or a Jewish joke, or an Irish joke, or a blonde joke.
Stop kidding yourselves, and lighten up...
