I think it would be really valuable if on Pillreports users had a profile. The profile could be accessed by clicking on the name of the reporter or of the person making the comment.

The profile could have user background info such as (and I'll use my own as a show of good faith!):

First use: Feb. 2009

Last use: July 2009

Total pill count: 6

Other substances: approx 20mg hydrocodone--weekly, cannabis--occasionally, alcohol--occasionally

On the profile other users could click the links: "find more reports by _____" and "find comments by ________"

I really think this would help put reviews in perspective and also possibly help with harm reduction if the reporter is actively monitoring their own usage.

What do you think?!

I personally don’t like the sound of a profile for a few reasons, first is that we try and keep everyone anonymous and as unattractive a target to any authority figures reading the site (LEO's / DEA etc) . If somebody starts talking about using heroin, coke, amounts of different chemicals etc then the site could be portrayed in a negative way/that person attract unwanted attention. At the moment we can be as open as we are as were only trying to educate people and help them avoid adulterants (harm reduction) – letting people say what drugs they are using would be a negative image to portray? The site not so long ago was in a newspaper in Europe for glamorising the use of Ecstasy – can you imagine what they would say if we were openly letting people say they are using heroin/coke/ket/acid/RC's etc

Secondly people would just lie to show off / look clever? If I put that I had taken say 500 pills – somebody would say they had taken 600 and therefore knew better than me etc. We all could update our user profiles on here to show that kind of information though?

You can search comments and reports by a specific user using the search engine but I agree it would be nice to try and tie that search into the user name (right click /search comments /reports kind of thing). I think that we have somebody looking into our coding at the moment so let’s see what we can do? Breaking the reports down by state would be brilliant (say a drop down menu on the Region section / search by state option)? I don’t know if that’s an easy job or not coding wise? I’ll ask Ravenousblonde to mention these points to whoever is doing the coding and we can take it from there.

Thanks everyone

I was thinking about this last night and you can search by state also by using the search engine :)

RedLeader - Im sure I read one of your posts somewhere that you can do coding work (somebody was asking about "learnt the basics now what")... do you not fancy doing some coding work on PR ? Honestly it would be a brilliant help to have some things update, added etc? If you (or anyone else) can help just drop Ravenousblonde a PM and take it from there.

I'm more of a application programmer than a web programmer. But looking at the source code of PR, I basically understand at least how to convert to individual states across the site. And as for other updates, some I could do, and some might be tricky. I think I could possibly do the thing with searching usernames by comments. Though I can only really get a limited perspective of the tasks by simply viewing the site. But I'll send Ravenousblonde a PM.

Your second point is the major reason why I can't see this happening. Everyone sees the dicksizing that goes on between users already, and a ratings system would only encourage that behavior.

I'm not sure we would break down NA (North America) into individual states. Remember, Canada is included in NA, and we'd have to separate them too. Then, I imagine every other section will probably want to be broken down...IMO it would create a lot of clutter. If you're looking for a particular state, try searching by state like Bearlove suggests. Same goes for comments and reports by other users - just search by user name.

I know I always sound like a party pooper when it comes to these ideas, but there really are more important things that need to be done first if we can get someone to help with the coding. :)

I can see both sides on states versus regions. In a way I kind of like regions because pills tend to "travel" (in my case from CA to it's surrounds). So for those of us who might get a pill but aren't planning on using it for a long while, we can still see it's reports emerging from time to time and more info is always better.

I still think profiles would be useful. People already talk often about their past usage in the reports(and if they don't they are often asked to share it so we can get an idea of their tolerance); it would just make it more convenient than constantly searching their past report to get an idea. It could also be voluntary with a "decline to state" option. And as for those that would "dicksize" as you say---that is valuable information too, for those are the types of users whose reports I would put the least faith in.

But thanks for listening and responding to my comments!
