Another lightbulb meth-pipe thread

I am sorry this has been done a million times but I have some very specific questions.

Firstly, how much more superior will the pipe be if i were to make a carb rather than leaving the entire thing closed? assuming the bulb is airtight and the only exit is the straw I don't understand how it will be possible to suck in the smoke from the bulb without a carb?

Thats the method I was thinking of replicating.

Furthermore, assuming I do make a carb, is a diamond drill bit absolutely neccessary? I have many drillbits but not a diamond one.

well, when ive had to make a lightbulb pipe, i make another hole in the bottle cap that is on te threads of the bulb, so that acts as a carb otherwise, make a carb by lightly tapping the bulb with a pocket screwdriver, wont make a perfect hole, but it works.
