This person drowned. This headline is false. Their heart stopped because they drowned. If you drown drunk they don't say death from alcohol related cardiac arrest. The drag artist known as The Vivienne died from misadventure after suffering cardio-respiratory arrest after taking ketamine, a coroner has ruled.

Jacqueline Devonish, the senior coroner for Cheshire, concluding the inquest, said: “The medical cause of death is cardio-respiratory arrest due to ketamine use. The conclusion, on the balance of probabilities, is that I’m satisfied that James Williams’s death was a misadventure, he took ketamine but he did not intend to take his own life.”

A report from a toxicologist, Dr Kerry Taylor, said tests showed a relatively high level of ketamine, but not at a level normally causing death. However, the drug can cause drowsiness, seizures and heart stimulation, and the concentration may have dissipated over time.

Isn't drowning normally quite easy to spot? I mean there is actually a flow chart for coroners to go through to decide if drowning was the cause of death (because 'drowning' is a way to make a murder look accidental.).

I do understand how often there are political reasons for blaming a drug but be it 'drowning after the consumption of ketamine' or 'cardio-respiratory arrest in bath after ketamine consumption' still make it clear that ketamine + water = bad plan.

I believe that if a bath is hot, it can increase the load on your heart as it fights to keep pressure up after blood vessels dilate. I wonder if that is an additional factor besides the ket in some of these non-drowning cases.
