Another Ivy Drug Bust: Cornell Student Arrested With $150,000 Worth Of Heroin

Cornell student Keri Blakinger was arrested on Saturday after police found her in possession of nearly six ounces of heroin, the Cornell Sun reported.

The 26-year-old's been charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree, a class A-II felony.

The market value of the drug has been estimated at $150,000.

That's the second Ivy League drug bust this month! Earlier in December, five Columbia kids and three "off-campus suppliers" were arrested for their alleged involvement in a drug ring that sold to on-campus frat houses.

Ithaca police wer called to the Hillside Inn because someone had reported a "suspicious person." They found Blakinger there and took her into custody.

$90 a point? Wouldn't be profitable unless the dealer is buying 100% pure dope and making 3% scramble out of it, and who would do that? Police/media estimates of value of drugs found are usually grossly inflated.
 
it would be awesome to go into 4 years of college with a brick of dope in the freezer. Attention parents:

(how much dope would one need if one wanted to be straight for 4 years?)
 
You can never trust the monetary value that they place on drugs in the media. Seems they just like to masturbate themselves on how "big" of a bust they got...
 
I can't say for sure but I don't think heroin would be that expensive in Ithaca. Any asshole could take a 3 hour drive and have shit at regular east coast prices. Pretty decent dope too. I mighta fucked the math but 6 ounces x 28 grams= 168 grams, 100 a gram is pricey...so more like $17k. I know they fuck the numbers but this is insane.

I wonder when/if this war on drugs will ever stop?

Actually dankster I'm familiar with the area and if you can get a gram for double what you stated your lucky.
Hell I'd dance a jig if I could get a gram for $200 in that area.
That is if your buying stamp bags.
Usually stamp bags I've encountered are actually .025 - .04 as opposed to .1 in that area.
I'm not sure if prices are allowed in this forum?
Seeing as people are posting them & a mod has posted since I'm guessing it's a grey area when stated as they are in this thread?
But seeing as I'm not positive on that I'll just throw out the total I came up with & you can do the backwards math. :)

The value I came up with for 6 oz sold as individual stamped bags is $67,200.
That value is with being generous & calling the stamps .05 when often there much smaller.
So my math is based off 20 bags to a gram.

So regardless there still way overstating the value but not by as much as you would think.
Not to mention the dope tends to be mediocre in purity at best.
As I'm assuming it's stepped on repeatedly before making it down the line.
Well most everything I've ran into in that area was.

Anyways just thought I'd chime in as I'm relatively local & have spent plenty of time in Ithaca.
