She carries me through the garden
Where all the flowers have died
And she takes me to the water
Where more death does hide
Here she tells me everything
Of what is meant to be
She tells me of the past
And the future that she sees
I am lost in her wisdom
And I dream in tones of her
I close my eyes so slowly
And the future starts to stir
She lets me into everything
That she has felt and seen
I notice pain in her eyes
Where happiness has been
Her eyes brightly twinkle
While remembering her youth
Her heartened smile subsides
When she knows the truth
In the distance lies a house
Full of windows clear as the sky
Closer another house of windows
Streaked and somewhat wry
Life has left its mark on both
And both have survived
One has lived completely
While the other completely thrived
Where all the flowers have died
And she takes me to the water
Where more death does hide
Here she tells me everything
Of what is meant to be
She tells me of the past
And the future that she sees
I am lost in her wisdom
And I dream in tones of her
I close my eyes so slowly
And the future starts to stir
She lets me into everything
That she has felt and seen
I notice pain in her eyes
Where happiness has been
Her eyes brightly twinkle
While remembering her youth
Her heartened smile subsides
When she knows the truth
In the distance lies a house
Full of windows clear as the sky
Closer another house of windows
Streaked and somewhat wry
Life has left its mark on both
And both have survived
One has lived completely
While the other completely thrived
