I was a Buffy freak for a long time but after the storyline with glory the I got tired of it all. As for Angel it is my understanding that the letter writing drive did not work out as hoped so this season will be the last unless as you stated another network picks it up but its doubtful cause its already on the WB right? I hear that Buffy & Dawn are spose to make a cameo before the show ends this year.

If anybody who reads this thread is interested in saving this show and other quality television (Angel gets the boot but Steve Harvey's Big Time stays...wtf?), I urge you to check outSavingAngel.org. It's a grassroots organization trying to keep it on the air.

Angel Investigations helps the helpless...now it's OUR turn.

I hate that I keep coming into these shows when they are going off the air! I started watching Buffy on dvd during it's final season, and because it was the smartest, funniest and most entertaining show around, I decided to give Angel a shot once I finished Season 7 this winter. So of course, I start in on Season 1, and they announce that it will be the last season. Ugh!
msn.com just reported today that SMG will not appear on Angel before its finale. The timing didn't work out because she was scheduled to be in Japan shooting a horror film. It's sad, but I must say, I was a Buffy and Spike fan anyway.

Official "Buffy" and "Angel" Appreciation Thread

I noticed a few people threatening to hijack the 'Cancelled TV Shows' thread with talk of "Buffy" and "Angel", so I figure a thread dedicated to them would not go astray.

Quick thoughts on "Angel" :
- Far superior to "Buffy". Better characters, better character devlopment, better enemies, funnier.
- I cried when Doyle died. I'm pretty sure that I cried when Cordelia died, too (I took this show quite seriously).
- Connor pissed me off.
- The Wolfram & Hart twist was... odd. I didn't really support it. I liked the Hyperion and plus, what was with that Eve character?! Blech.
- One good thing to come out of Wolfram & Hart move was Illyria. What a fabulous character. So funny and hot, I loved her.
- The series finale left a lot to be desired. My mouth was agape when the credits started to roll from the completely lack of closure, and my [then] 23yo brother needed a hug (he took the show seriously, too). I assume they all died, but what kind of ending is that?! I think the writers could've done a bit more than an assumption of death.

*Sigh* This all takes me back to high school (which was only one and a half years ago, so it's not that dramatic, really). My friends Bonnie, Ally and myself would irritate our Maths teacher because we'd forgo our work every Tuesday (day after "Buffy") and Wednesday (day after "Angel) in favour of discussing each shows' events. Good times.

i'm gonna be a bastard and split this right away.

i don't know about everyone else, but whilst there's enough crossover to make these two shows relevent to each other, i think there's too much discussion to not give them a thread each.

at the very least if one of the threads isn't getting much discussion i'll talk about it. i <3 these shows :D

i prefer buffy; whilst angel had some parts that were better (*some* characters developed well, it was far more cinematic), it was mostly inferior, imo. angel had some damn funny moments, but buffy had more subtle, ironic moments of humour.

connor was a shit shit shit addition to the show. i liked the actor, i liked the idea, and i liked some of the story arcs they put in...but it was just a crap diversion from the far more interesting ideas the show had going through it.

i have a write up of this show i wrote for a magazine a while back. if i can find it i'll post it.

Connor and Dawn should just get married and star in the worst spinoff ever, or maybe not

Angel had this tone that didn't sit well in my head unlike the brighter Buffy tone, but season 5 had some outstanding individual episodes like Smile Time and You're Welcome.

I always preferred Angel over Buffy... less campy humor. Funny though, my favorite character was the one always cracking wise, Lorn.

However, the final season left A LOT to be desired... I would have cancelled them too if I'd been brought these story ideas. I think the 2 decisions that killed the series was 1. The Puppet Episode, and 2. Killing Fred.

I love Angel. I think it's better than Buffy, but I'm tired of the comparisons. Sure,Angel is a spinoff, but they are two completely different shows. Check out cityofangel.com. I haven't seen every episode, but this site MORE than makes up for that.

Joss Whedon is the shit.

I mean the man can write some serious good tv scripts. and he also ventured in the world of comic books and OWNED X-men!
