An original idea for purifying/pressing kief?

Hi all, this is my first post here.
I'm currently under parole, thus I won't be able to try it myself for the next few months.

The idea:
While making coffee using my Macchinetta, I came out with an idea -
why not use mid-quality-african-kief instead of ground coffee beans?
In theory, the water should pass through the kief, washing away all the water-soluble crap. It should also press the kief into a nice, little-watery cake, which can then be dried to produce a little higher potency hash.
I was thinking of using distilled water, because otherwise you would get some salts in your hash.



What are your thoughts? am I just being stupid?

I don't know if the percentage of water soluble compounds is high enough to make the end product noticeably stronger. Cannabinoids are actually slightly water soluble though so your strategy might just work against you. In the end, I doubt it is going to make a difference. You may want to try an extraction with a polar solvent like butane or naptha if you are willing to do something a bit more intensive.

The main idea is to press the kief easily, and besides, the water can always be drank or something.
By the way, you've just reminded me of another idea - why not put a solvent in the water tank of the macchinetta, and use that to extract some thc?

I dont think that method would work, simply running water through kief will not increase its potency at all.
like shulgin said, the only things I would think that could purify kief would be polar solvents butane, co2 maybe but thats very intensive.
that being said, i dont even know that butane would work in purifying kief. The process of pushing butane thru the tube works with buds, but in the case of kief I honestly believe that it would all just fly out the end of the tube when trying to do the extraction.
Kief itself is very pure already, as it is mostly made up of trichomes.
You don't need to put anything thru the kief, just get a kief press they are relatively inexpensive and very easy.

As for putting solvent in the water tank of ur coffee machine, that would not work.
In order to do an extraction (from buds, not kief), there must be some level of pressurization in order to extract the most possible THC.
You could do a pressureless extraction (ethanol), but the product will not be nearly as pure or taste as clean.

i used to put my kief in a pot with water and heat it up with the stove. i used to boil it too. it gets softer and you can identify which parts are buds and which parts are just leaves and crap.
