Hi, folks!! Nice to finally sign up for an account here!!
I've viewed various things on this board over the years, but never had anything to add till now... I won't go in to details right now, but I will post it in the proper forum.
A little background: I'm an old 40+, former Deadhead (Well, once a Deadhead, always a Deadhead).
I have experienced a LOT of recreational drug use in my life and have been in the grip of addiction. I'm clean now, and regularly undergo wizz quizzes for my job. While the drugs may be gone, I have a lifetime of experiences in what TO do and what NOT to do and I hope i can impart that information and knowledge to other folks in the need of answers.
If I'd have had the information that is available to folks now, I might have made different choices in life. I have no regrets in life though. I certainly HAVE made bad choices that resulted in my life changing drastically. If I can help even ONE person think about making different choices in their life, I will have done something good.
I don't talk crap or make up stories about exorbitant drug use to impress the youngins and I don't tell blustery stories of mayhem to scare folk either. I give what I always require of people - The Straight Dope (Pun intended)
That all being said, don't call me a reformed user or hypocrite or some other line of judgmental crap. I used drugs and I STILL would if I could shake the stigma of the 'illegal' part and didn't have to take regular testing. I went the route of trying to cover up or mask a potential positive drug test and it took it's toll on my life not to mention that it is NOT feasible to pop dirty for THC screening when you drive for a living. An employer doesn't care if you got high 10 minutes ago or 10 days ago, a positive is a positive when you get in an auto accident. Our commercial insurance companies are REQUIRING tox screens for any claim on a policy, period!
This brings me to the whole point of being here, typing all this: Legal (for now) sources of getting high which will not show up in a typical dip test or can be explained away using the GC/MS retest for a dip-positive. More on that in another forum.
I feel that we, as human beings have and always will seek a release from our daily grind, or sorrows, or pain and our troubles in general. For some, the release of choice has been deemed illegal, immoral or just plain social unacceptable. As much as it's wrong, it's the sad truth. What we educated people need is MORE ACCURATE information to make INFORMED decisions as to what they do with their OWN body's!!
On the political side, I am closest to a Libertarian on personal drug use. I don't care what you decide to do with whatever you decide to do it with, but do it safely in the confines of your own home, don't risk others lives in the pursuit of a buzz and whatever you do, please, be prepared to take responsibility for your OWN actions when they are deemed wrong. I believe in decriminalization of all now-illegal drugs, not legalization. I think the drug industry would benefit from some sensible diatribe and some common-sense policies regarding how to obtain drugs for people who are mentally stable enough to use them. I said mentally stable for a reason.
I read an excellent, well-written post on here once about the drugs not being bad per se, but certain people are bad at taking drugs and have physiological or mental issues that should disqualify them from being able to purchase or use drugs, period. Some people get high and have fun safely and smartly. Others put themselves and others at risk through already flawed or bad judgment exacerbated by drug use.
Anyhow, that's WAY more than an introduction, but should give people some frame of reference when I post my thought and opinions here. Please feel free to take me to task on my writings, I enjoy well-reasoned debate
