A thought crossed my mind
like a black cat across my path
I looked for truth deep inside
found an eye staring back
liquid black, surrounded in gray,
reflecting a sick, dead desert, an ancient place
where we lived beneath just to survive
hearing myths of a sky
a cieling that never ends
with no walls to our sides
and other ridiculous lies
water and soil with poisonous souls
ravenous creatures who swallow us whole
death machines plowing across the wasteland
our rusty sky, and this blood on our hands
patches of ill vegitation
what's left isn't enough
nothing can be undone
and rocks fall from above
we've got to leave this place
where did we go wrong here?
is there rhyme or reason?
somewhere could we find meaning?
no hope here for our poisoned souls
gaping void within that swallow us whole
war machines plowing across the wasteland
our rusty sky, and this blood on our hands
there's got to be an answer
there's got to be a reason why
there's got to be a reason
this can never happen again
