Hey guys, just wanted to post up this essay I wrote for my sister in law a while back. YES there is some copy paste info on there but everything else is mostly my written work. Idk if i can post it up on here but it does have alot of important info that some users might be seeking..
I did mention bluelight and pillreports. Enjoy :D
Ecstasy
“Need any pills?” is something you might hear in rave, full of colorful lights, extremely loud music, and a very happy and energetic crowd, everyone dancing, having a good time. Now, before we get into that I would like to explain what the teenager with a hat trying to cover his face from security was trying to sell you. “Pills”, “X”, “Ecstasy”, “Thizz”, “Rolls”, “E” is what they call it, but 3,4-methyldioxymethamphetine or MDMA for short is its proper name and is one of the most popular recreational psycho actives most commonly sold in the form of "ecstasy" tablets. It is well known for its euphoric, empathogenic, and stimulant effects, and has also been used in psychotherapy. Ecstasy was first made in a laboratory in Germany in 1912. The German pharmaceutical company E. Merck patented it in 1914. In the Late ‘70s and early ‘80s was already being used on the streets but Alexander Shulgin was the American pharmacologist, chemist, artist, and drug developer who popularized MDMA around that time. It was used as a psychotherapeutic tool but It wasn’t until 1985 that Ecstasy was made illegal, Schedule 1. People had also used MDMA to fix relationships. Taking Ecstasy with a loved one has been called a “marriage saver”. The experience can break through barriers built up over many years. Now you might be wondering, how does this drug work? Well, it induces serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine release. The dose of MDMA, 1.7 mg/kg, was psychoactive and participants reported heightened mood, increased extroversion, feelings of altered reality, and mild perceptual alterations. A lethal dose for any human being can be anywhere from 200 mg to 300 mg in one dose. Contrary to popular belief, ecstasy tablets have rarely been cut with cocaine, heroin, or acid. There is also Ecstasy in powder form which has a higher risk of being cut with cocaine, but a lot of users still think Pure MDMA powder is safer than tablets, which in many ways is true. Well how do you know what you are taking then? The sad truth is you don’t unless you are the chemist fabricating the substance. Although, luckily you CAN find out whether your tablet or “Molly” (Powder Ecstasy) is MDMA or not. Ecstasy test kits are sold online for harm prevention reasons. These kits are used to tell you the purity of your substance or what the substance you have is. There is also harm prevention sites for example, www.pillreports.com, www.ecstasydata.org (you can send your pill, or powder to this organization, and they will test the substance in a laboratory and tell you what it is specifically), www.bluelight.ru. Ecstasy is safer than alcohol, and nicotine, and no safer than fast food. It is not physically addictive in anyway, it can be quite mentally addictive, but there is no withdrawals from this drug. There are two commonly known ways of ingesting this drug, insufflating and taking orally. Short term side effects of Ecstasy are; jaw tension, dilated pupils, high blood pressure, high body temperature, and nausea. Some of these side effects will not happen depending on the person’s body. It’s hard to say what the long term side effects are, I will explain why. MDMA was never made for recreational purposes, but in the end like any other illicit drug, it did end up being a recreational substance. This drug is not made to be taken daily, nor weekly, in doing so, you will be asking your brain to produce serotonin that is not there because MDMA releases all the serotonin it can every time you use it. Now here is when the long term side effects come in. Doing MDMA frequently, will often result in depression, serotonin depletion, (which will lead to serotonin syndrome), short term memory loss, speech impediment, and blurred vision. But of course, that’s with daily or weekly use. MDMA is safe and rather good for you, if you can space your use. Once every 1-3 months is recommended for recreational use and not bad for you and will help you avoid long term effects of the drug. There is little known about the drug’s effects on an unborn fetus. Although, it is highly recommended not to use MDMA while pregnant. Now, remember that kid trying to sell you “pills,” well the sad truth is that he probably does not know what he is trying to sell you, “Well its ecstasy man,” he might argue, but in reality, there can be more than one drug in that tablet, and if there is just one drug in that tablet, there’s a high possibility it is not MDMA at all. People looking to buy these pills will not know this either, and will probably end up buying a tablet which has little MDMA, or no MDMA at all. There are a lot of substances which can mimic the effects of MDMA but will only come close to the real effects MDMA produces. BZP, TMFPP, mCPP, are a few legal drugs that can be put into a pill to mimic an MDMA high but are a lot more dangerous and have a higher risk of overdosing, which is why ecstasy has a bad reputation. It makes sense for an ecstasy pill maker put these drugs in a tablet because these substances are a lot easier and cheaper to get than real MDMA. Not everyone is informed about this when they go and “pop” pills when they go to raves, cubs, or parties. It is people like them that give ecstasy the bad reputation it has.
As a result to this research, we conclude that this euphoric drug has its pro’s and con’s to many circumstances. We can learn that trying ecstasy may not result in addiction or abuse right away, but if done frequently in short periods of time can lead to the long-term effects.
Thanks for reading, it might not be perfect since i did this in one night. She did tell me she got a B on this though :D
