Amyl Nitrite (Rush) query

I'm sure most of you have heard of Amyl Nitrate (poppers, rush, etc). They generally come in a little bottle, you smell it and a few seconds later you feel as if you have been hit by a sledge hammer - headspins, time slows down, heart racing.. just amazing I cannot put it into words - It only lasts about 30 seconds.

I've done some research on it, read several texts and fact sheets.. some of my friends are fully into it - some stay away from it.. saying its like sniffing paint.. Personally I never get chopped or hit a rave without a little bottle in my pocket - I was wondering on what everyones thoughts are?

(Heres a pic from erowinds: It comes in several labels and several brands.. but the general bottle is the same - people tend to rip off the label so its a dark bottle in a dark club)

And yeah I did a search and it was very informative... I personally found the idea of someone dipping ciggys in the stuff to trip out unsuspecting peakers to be a little funny - but wrong.. wrongwrongwrong!

I was just wondering on peoples recent attitudes and thoughts on the subject.. If you feel it appropriate to lock the thread go right ahead :)

I'm just interested in your opinions - like yours, I know a few of my friends think it is evil
 
Evandar: Could you be a little more specific about what you want to discuss in this thread? At present, the topic is quite vague and open-ended. There are MANY threads about inhalable nitrites, with opinions galore from current users, ex-users and newbies. If you have specific questions that need answering then please spell them out. Otherwise, we can lock this thread or merge it with other threads which have a clear topic related to amyl/isobutyl nitrite.

Question: What is your personal opinion on inhalable nitrates like rush, etc? Do you think its a good thing? a bad thing?

I have no objections if the topic is locked or merged at the admins discretion :)
 
meh, i think its evil.
only tried it once and i've heard - and i dont doubt it myself - that it is especially bad when ur peakin. bad for ur blood pressure or what-not
 
I personally have no problems with it, but I find that once a bottle/rag is out in the open, people tend to not want to stop...and they'll be sniffin it till the cows come home. When it gets like this the nasty effects of the drug appear, people get bad headaches, might get a little irritable, and more than anything, after a while they won't be enjoying it anymore.

So sure, I won't turn down a quick sniff if it's being passed around, but the important thing is to leave it at that.
 
Yep I've been on the dance floor when the whole place smells like amyle, and time has slowed for eveyone, wicked experience.

I like it and use it when offered when I'm out Dancin'

I don't think a small hit every now and then can be to bad.
But I wouldn't do it with a heart condition.
 
I don't not like many substances;) But amyl nitrate I find the side effects not worth the rush. I have heart palpitations the following day after using it. Inhalants aren't the most classy group of drugs out there but im not totally against them as I do enjoy Nitrous Oxide and a nice Ether binge.

At one time I always had a small bottle of ether on hand for use as a solvent. Although I kept it in the freezer not used for food, the smell would still permeate the room on a hot day. This I could tolerate but when a friend discovered it, even though he was normally a polite and non-invasive type, it seemed to be beyond his ability to resist temptation and not sneak away and inhale. After finding him almost unconscious on a couple of occasions, I thought that's it and never bothered replacing the bottle once the last was used.

An odd thing perhaps, but it was surprisingly difficult to prize the bottle out of his hand when he was deeply intoxicated, even on one occasion when he was virtually unconscious. No wonder they strap down the arms during surgery. I'd imagine, in the days when ether was used as a GA, the last thing a doctor would need is some hand reaching out and grabbing the first thing it finds (think about what's often hanging at that height 8o). A grip like that could have proven fatal! 8(
 
^^^Don't you love the toxic smell that lingers with you for an eternity? It's impossible to subtlely sneak out side for a huff and not become a fire hazard the rest of the night.:D I can't understand why females don't get turned on by a guy with no balance and toxic breath!=D
 
I don't like the shit personally. It gives me a huge headache after only 2 deep sniffs. Plus I can just feel it destroying brain cells 1 million at a time. It also gives a new spin on the word retarded.
 
I had my fist try of this last night .... (I wish there was a gritted teeth, slightly bemused yet weirded out smiley to express my feelings here)

I watched my boyfriend sniff from the little bottle first. He seemed to survive with no noticeable bad effects, or much effect at all really, so I thought, what the hell. Took the little bottle and sniffed it up.

INSTANTLY it hit me like being smacked in the head by a firm mattress. A huge "coming up" feeling.... absolutely overwhelming. I couldn't see, couldn't speak, couldn't articlute anything. "Oh" was the only sound that came out. Nausea rose up. It was hard to breathe. Everyone started getting worried about me because I looked so freaked out. I was. This was by far the single most INTENSE 30 seconds of my drug-taking career, including the strongest pills I've ever taken. I actually couldn't wait for it to end - I was scared shitless.

In summary, I wouldn't do this again. I like intense experiences, but this was out of control. I had none of the "relaxing" feeling the others got; it was just a 30 second rollercoaster ride into some sort of bizarre parallel universe and I don't fancy repeating the visit.

Different strokes for different folks I suppose!
 
haha first time i had amyl was at school outside my history class completely out in the open and in front of a lot of people walking to class including teachers and students. Hardicus gave me the bottle and told me it was amyl and to have just one sniff. I didn't think it would do shit all so I obnoxiously took 4 HUUUUUUGE sniffs, really sucking it right up there. After proclaiming it didn't do shit it immediatly hit me and i fell over, my face went bright red and i remember thinking "if this lasts longer than 1 minute i have got to get home". It was so damn intense and i was so exposed it was not funny, plus we went to a very private school so this was not a good look.

Anyway, back to the thread, haven't done this for ages cos it just give me a headache and i'd much prefer bulbs but i might try it again once on a good md pill. YEh amyl sucks pretty hard and goes pretty far down on my drug of choice list :)
 
As well as being known for it's popularity amongst the gay community, didn't the original use of amyl nitrite during sex relate to how it relaxes the anal sphincter? 8o

I agree with SLM. I hate amyl nitrite or any such compounds. Horrible substances in my opinion. You might as well use viagra instead, which I also find too much; the facial flushing being much the same. But at least with viagra you have the added bonus of also getting more blood in the desired area.


Note: NEVER USE VIAGRA WITH ANY NITRITE OR NITRO/NITRATE COMPOUNDS
