Vigorously wiping the dust off dustbins.
Do any of you have any words/sayings that you find funny?
For instance, words like "schmuck", "knucklehead" and "shenanigans" actually amuse me and are used at every given opourtunity (am I sad or what?).
Does anyone else have any? (Or am I just a sad lonely word geek?).

"Schmuck" is one of those words that only a very small percentage of people can say without a hint of irony, and actually get away with. You need to be either Italian-American or Jewish... possibly with greying hair... and a sheepskin coat or plaid jacket.

But I agree, it is a great word.

"Poindexter" was always a favourite from childhood. I think I heard it first on Toejam and Earl.

"Spiv" would also be one that makes me smile.
 
i've never heard anyone say the word "schmuck". it's just not used over here.

Ballcock: It's the mechanism that fills watertanks. :D It just makes me giggle. It was also invented by Thomas Crapper - who invented toilets.

A word that I love is Onomatopoeia: It looks difficult to pronounce, yet rolls off the tongue, and any word that uses 8 vowels - 4 of them in a row, can't be half bad. =D It's one of my favourite words!

asinine - just plain weird. I cant say it with a straight face.
kibosh - "I was gonna go to the strip club, but my wife put the kibosh on that idea." Ive heard it pronounced two different

1) Kuh - bosh
or
2) Ky - bosh

The first doesnt make me laugh, and is actually not the proper way of saying it. The second way, however, is the way I hear it pronounced the least, and its hilarious, yet its the proper way of saying it.
