To all Dutchies who read here and don't really frequent 'European Events', I've taken the liberty to post this very interesting looking event which will be held in Amsterdam on Friday the 14th of June. Come join me in hearing Dr. Charles Grob speak! Sorry if this is the wrong place for this, mods, but since scientific psychedelics research is frequently discussed here, I thought this would fit right in. And in any case attract more people who might've otherwise missed it. :)

Psilocybin in the treatment of end-of-life anxiety

Can psychedelics help patients cope with the fear of death?

Dr. Grob will come all the way from Los Angeles to give a lecture on his research into psilocybin, the active ingredient in 'magic mushrooms'. The main focus of this lecture will be the investigation into the safety and efficacy of psilocybin as a therapeutic aid in the treatment of severe anxiety in adult patients with advanced-stage cancer. Research into substances such as MDMA and ayahuasca, also investigated at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, will be addressed as well. There will be ample time for questions and discussion. Students, health care professionals and therapists are encouraged to attend.

Dr. Charles Grob is professor in Psychiatry & Biobehavioral Sciences at UCLA, Los Angeles (USA). He has published extensively on topics such as substance misuse and the history of hallucinogens in psychiatry. He performed the first FDA approved study of the physiological and psychological effects of MDMA; a multi-national study of ayahuasca in Brazil and has performed a pilot investigation of the safety and efficacy of psilocybin in the treatment of anxiety in adult patients with advanced-stage cancer.

WHO: Dr. Charles Grob (UCLA)

WHEN: Friday 14 June

TIME: 16:00 - 18:00

WHERE: CREA (Muziekzaal), Nieuwe Achtergracht 170 Amsterdam.

FEE: €5,- regular / students & alumni free

Any Dutchies here intent on visiting? I think Charles Grob is one of the most exciting researchers in the field of psychedelic science and I'm personally very curious what he has to say... :)

Maybe, I'm going to Amsterdam that day anyway. Students applies to WO (Uni) only I guess? (I'm a bit of a looser on the career front :p)

If you can show a student card, you'll be let in, methinks. Doesn't only apply to University students, as long as you can show some credentials. :)

Is this likely to be recorded or how do things work at these kinds of events? Would be interested in hearing even some of the key points of interest but no chance I'll be getting to the actual event.

We'll do our utmost best to record the event and to put the video online asap. Though my experience is these things take their time, sometimes...
