amphetamines and meth-amphetamines

Are these drugs the same as speed and ice? what about crystal meth? is meth a lot more harmful/addictive? is the only difference a slightly different chemical composition, like the addition of a methyl group or something?

Anything to clear up my confusion would be greatly appreciated :)
ps. i'm knew so sorry if these have all been answered before!

ice = meth

meth is basically stronger amph, affects serotonin more and is more euphoric. Yes its more addictive because....well i think you see the logic...

in simpler terms, meth compared to amph is like heroin compared to morphine

Yes the only thing different is that meth has a methyl group

speed = amphetamine (in usa sometimes used as term for meth, too)
ice, crystal, meth... = methamphetamine

You could say that meth is potentially more harmful that pharmacuetical amphetamines like Adderall because it's being cooked up by god-knows-what kinda fucked-up methheads and then cut by greedy dealers with various kinds of toxic chemicals.

It's also generally more powerful and more fun, although in my opinion it's not nearly as powerful as it was in the ninties. But I digress.

Anything is harmful if you take too much of it. And you can get addicted to pretty much anything too. Stimulant drugs generally induce euphoria and give you energy, and that's something a lot of people (such as me!) like. It's possible to use them in moderation. But they're hard on your body, they affect your emotions, and yeah, a lot of people do run into trouble with them. So have fun, but be warned.

In all seriousness, over here in California essentially everything/all slang is geared towards meth product except for sometimes "speed" (usually amph/sometimes meth in slang usage) and always "crank" (always amph in slang usage) . Stimulants are huge and abundant over here; sometimes newer users will refer to meth as "speed", while the old school tooters will refer to "speed" whilst describing crank. "Meth" or moreso "crystal" are the main generic terms heard. Meth seems to be winning the race out here these days. As far as addictive properties, amphetamines/methamphetamines are both extremely addictive, so watch out.

So, is 'ice' now the accepted term for 4MAR? I don't like (meth)amphetamine but I love 4MAR.
 
Haribo1 - to my knowledge, no, "ice" is not an accepted term for 4MAR out here in CA; to be honest with you I don't think most people in Cali even know what 4MAR is! Stating such, I suppose though, could lead to some folks perhaps rounding 4MAR together verbally with the meth "tag" so to speak, perhaps. You got me curious, though.
 
4 Methyl Aminorex is made from PPA. It's like 1/2 way between (meth)amphetamine and MDMA in effect and it lasts 12 hours+. About 40-50mg is a good dose. You can smoke the freebase (which is a solid) but I've only ever swallowed it. It's much more subtle than straight phenethylamine stimulants and much more euphoric. On the downside, it has been shown to cause vascular hypertension (sometimes fatal) in a proportion of the population. The parent compound, Aminorex, was marketed as a slimming pill in the 1960s but was pulled after a couple of years because of the incidence of heart trouble. I would love to know what the effects of the ring-substituted aminorex series is. I mean, if you put a 3,4 methylenedioxy ring onto it, would it be like MDMA? If so, would it fall under the CSA laws, what, with it chemically being like one thing, but acting like another thing...
 
Thanks for all the feedback people! I've been using a bit of speed on big nights these days and was considering trying something else soon. But at the moment i don't think i really need too, having enough fun on the whiz :P I think it is slowly taking over bics in the drug of choice department
 
im glad you can read. that way you would have seen the stickies and faq's if you'd bothered to read anything at all. the search function is for discovering covered topics, this one has been done for the umpteenth time, as many others have as well. i dont know what kind of institution you went to.
 
Crystal = fuck up your life
Tweak = lose your family
Ice = the one thing you care about when addicted.

Just to let you know leftwing i actually did try and seach it but didn't find a straight forward answer like i was able to get here. It's nice too know the slang for different drugs so you actually know what people are talking about instead of just guessing. If the thread annoyed you don't read it, chill out dude.

FYI, people here are very anti-meth. Cuz no one ever fucks up their life on any other drug, oh nooooooooo.
Just ignore that shit.
