Amphetamines and benzos

This'll probably have been asked before. But I didn't find anything and I'd like to know about other people's experiences with the combination.
I tend to get some heart-palpitations when I'm on amps, which I know is pretty common. But I'm wondering about how benzos would influence them. General rule in harm reduction is "uppers+downers = bad for heart" but its the palpitations I'm wondering about?

So what do other people experience when they take benzos while on amps while having heart-palpitations? Does it relieve or intensify them? Or doesn't it affect them?

Doctors give benzos to treat amphetamine overdoses so I don't think it's that dangerous?

Help would be appreciated.

This seems like quite a generalisation, and i'm pretty sure it isn't true in the vast majority of cases.

There aren't really any negative effects from combining stims and benzos, and in fact it's often quite beneficial to get rid of stuff like twitches and anxiety. I think its ability to treat palpitations varies between people.. even if it doesn't help much with the physical side effects, often it's a mental thing, and in such cases benzos can really help out.

Alright, thanks. You pretty much confirmed what I was thinking about how dangerous this actually is. But I doubt it's mental. It's a common side-effect, and it can make people get all paranoid. That is not the case, I'm just wondering because I have tried the combo before and it only got rid of the jitters and anxiety, but not the palpitations (atleast not noticably).

But I take a valium daily, therefore I always have diazepam in my bloodstream. My questions have been answered, I'd still like to read some experiences from people with no/little tolerance to benzos who tried this combo, as they perceive the full effects so can give a better opinion imo.

Its okay when u wanna go to sleep i usually munch some temazepam to get to sleep after slamming amphetamines all day

One reason it's not good to mix the two is that you tend to develop polydrug addiction, because once you take the edge off with benzos, you become used to it and don't want to do amphetamines without benzos. This has been my experience.

This is worth considering in the long term.

If I do have the two I prefer to take them in combination as a low benzo dose 'takes the edge off' and reduces anxiety, tension and unwanted peripheral effects without significantly affecting central stimulation. For the comedown their beneficial effects are quite obvious.
I know of people that are prescribed dextroamphetamine daily for attention deficit disorder and diazepam for associated muscle tension and sleep. I don't think it's a particularly dangerous combo, especially if doses are kept reasonable.

One danger to consider carefully is that if you are on a stimulant, you can take quite a bit more benzodiazepines then you can normally/soberly handle, and when the stims wear off, watch out! Especially noteworthy if you are drinking alcohol or also dosing an opiate.

The stims can keep you safe, but when they wear off the sedatives hit you like a ton of bricks. You could blackout or overdose.

Other than that, and Tricomb's reasoning, it's generally safe enough to combine the two. Just don't keep popping benzos when you're stimmed out of it, and realize later you blacked out or passed out for no reason (best ending), or wake up in a hospital in ICU because you stopped breathing (one of the worst endings).

I actually greatly enjoy benzos and amphetamines. It's a good combination, if you have care and aren't ludicrous in your dosing regimen. TBH, I like to combine it with alcohol too, and an opiate, if available. But that's seriously risky, and I'm very careful with it and aware of the risks; I don't promote the idea that it's safe or that anyone should attempt it.

My psychiatrists put me on benzos for sleep (temazepam, alprazolam, triazolam, others) when my ADD medications (Adderall XR and then Dexedrine, this wasn't an issue when they switched me to Desoxyn) were keeping me awake at night, so yes they CAN be combined, but should they? Probably not, it's setting yourself up for a poly drug addiction.

could never do any kind of amphet. w/o a benzo....

well...would never anyway..
but i have a benzo tolerance..so i don't count:(
