Stimulants Amphetamine Causing Constricted Pupils (Miosis)?

Does anyone know by what mechanism this occurs in amphetamine?

It happens for me and at least two other people (who responded to a thread) on bluelight.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Apparently blocking the muscarinic acetylcholine receptor causes dilation, which I thought amphetamine was supposed to do.
 
Sorry OP, I am not sure. Constricted pupils would be very odd from any stimulant

However, see what i mean about amphetamine posts getting no love compared to the other Opiate pupil related thread here? lol
 
I have experienced constricted pupils from large IV doses of amphetamine. Which I thought to be odd. Would like to know more about this myself. Would also like to know why my eyes don't dilate from MDPV.
 
That is very odd. I've never seen or heard of anyone getting constricted pupils from amphs. Even my sister who is on adderall for adhd gets huge pupils. Very curious, I'd like to know the answer myself. Does this happen to you every time? With every type of stimulant?
 
I don't have access to stimulants right now and would be the pot calling the kettle black (if you will) if I used them now anyway. The next time I use stimulants (if I do) I'll report back.

Off topic: people here sure do love opiates - I don't touch that shit with a one-hundred-foot pole
 
Perhaps irrelevant but after obsessing over pupils on amps for months, the only thing that has a real substantial response is alcohol. If i drink a bit i cant kill my pupil size super fast. Good idea, no, just an observation...
 
They get constricted enough so that I can be misplaced for being on opiates. I haven't done opiates for a while so can't equate the two for me personally but someone else might definitely think I'm on opiates. This is not to mention the bizarrely calm behavior amphetamine precipitates in me.
 
^ I hope you get a response from an ADD star because I would be very interested in the implications of what you describe as this is very rare i think.
 
Seems odd. You sure it just wasn't one time this happened and was purely coincidental ? Mydriasis is usually almost guaranteed with medium to high dose stimulants. I know I always get dilated pupils.

Thing is though, it's more common for me on the comedown. I can get it when on it too, but it doesn't ALWAYS happen. The comedown however when I feel tired and tweaked sometimes I always get it. That and a pale looking face.
 
that's crazy, i dont do amps cuz i got ADD and can eat adderall all day and go right to bed lol. anytime ive seen constricted pupils the person was on an opiate/opiod.

i would like to know the answer to that to.
 
i used to get the same thing pritty bad! I still get it when taking smth that releases big amounts of dopamine! My pupils get nearly pinpoint small... evan in light they dont get much bigger!!
As for normal doses of stims (1 line of "speed" or about 50mg of 3-mmc) my eyes dont rly change at all! I never get huge pupils like others dol! Never and with no drugs i have tried so far!
 
I wonder if its related to previous MDMA/opiate usage.

If I don't get a concrete answer here (which is looks like I won't) I'm going to refer this to ADD.

It most def. isnt for me, as i have not been using MDMA for the last 1,5 Years and have not been using Opiates ever before! Would like this going to ADD for a sientific answer for sure!
 
Ok so if I use a straight dopaminergic stim, like adderall, dexamp, amphet powder, etc, then I get slight pupil constriction, maybe a 15-20% reduction in size.When I comedown from these my pupils eventually get dilated slightly, again maybe 20% larger than normal. When I use any stim that has any sort of serotonergic properties such as cocaine, mdma, meth, and mdpv ( slightly) then I get massive saucer pupils, bigger than even whilst tripping on 6 grams of shrooms ( dry).

So I guess it has something to do with NE and Serotonin. The NE from the metabolite of dopamine, which is why it only happens AFTER I come down from straight dopamine stims, when there is more NE then dopamine left. And serotonin receptor agonist I thought always causes some sort of dilation of the eye. Why exactly it happens i don't know....

When you say "amphetamine," what exact preparation are you speaking of (Adderall, Dexedrine, Vyvanse, Street Amp, etc.)? How much are you taking per dose? Per day?
 
My pupils are always bigger when comming down/effect wears off of my dexamp (prescribed) than whilst it is active. Usually they are dilated a bit. However I have noticed that my eyes have not been dilating at all lately when taking it and there is no real effect to be felt anymore.

Still like others said, can't see why they constrict?

Ya know, I started a thread in ADD about how amphetamine increases endogenous opiate peptide bonding. Hiltoniano I think that's part of it (though amp does act on serotonin) but if one were deficient in dopamine/norepinepherine (in essence one who has ADD/ADHD) in the appropriate regions of the brain then I would suspect the endogenous opiate bonding would take precedent over amphetamine's "typical" effects in terms of outward manifest effects such as pupil size.

Isn't that typical a symptom of psycosis? I've heard this happening, its rare but in a few people. How much do you take just out of curiosity?
