Misc AMPA potentiator to battle Ketamine amnesia

I can probably score some of this shit from my psychiatrist.

Like hell you can, both drugs mentioned are "research chemicals" in the very core sense of the word - i.e. ligands for research, not developed drugs! That means there are 0 toxicity studies and 0 studies on the absorbtion/metabolism in humans.
 
Another glyt inhibitor. He showed me an ad today during session of a substance that supposedly acts positive on NMDA receptor activity and is used to treat negative symptoms of schirophrenia. I was trying to find out what it is called exactly but was extremely scattered and talking about 4 subjects simultaneously so we decided it'd be best to postpone the neuropharm talk till after the session lol. Needless to say the plan had gotten lost in the labyrinth of sprouting ideas when the time came to get out the paper again and look up the name of the substance.

I don't see what else it could be aside from a glyt inhibitor or are there any direct NMDA agonists available? It specifically mentioned NMDA, not AMPA. I'm assuming a Glyt inhibitor will have effect on both receptors availability of glycine. I'm a bit surprised though about the lack in attenuation of behavioural effects the paper mentioned, but then I guess Ketamine is just too strng an antagonist for a higher glycine activity to result in an overall higher activity of NMDA receptors.

I won't see my psychiatrist until monday, but he's generally very lax about meds. I quote "You're pretty well educated when it comes to meds, what did you say the name was of what you need?" This was regarding an antimycotic (really heavy shit that should never be administered without clinical supervision for monitoring plasma concentration and liver parameters imho. But that's just my opinion). This is especially crazy cause I'm still not certain whether my visions of being eaten by an evil mushroom entity (I quote "I am macerating. It is just a matter of whether the rat poison (amphotericin b) or the fungus will kill me first" These words or others along the same line were how I said goodbye to my friends and family LOL) had a strictly delusional genesis or whether I actually had a fungal infection. I'd tend to say the latter is the case, but nonetheless no culture has been created from my skin/hair, so there's no telling and handing out antifungal pills like that would be pure insanity.

Anyway, maybe what I glanced at actually wasn't a glyt inhibitor but a direct ampa agonist, no idea. Chances are the latter might play out the same way though. I'd sure the hell be willing to try, starting at super-small dosages. You can't break what's already broken.

Glutamate is the primary ligand for AMPA, not glycine, IIRC. Gly is only a secondary ligand for NMDArs,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitopertin may be the drug your psych was thinking of? It acts as an indirect NMDA agonist by increasing glycine concentrations, I guess?

The most common ampakines are the racetams, which remportedly work well to neutralize (most of) ketamine's effects

why the fuck does glyt effect memory?! i thought those were only found in the spinal cord, not in teh brainz.


anyway, what is that drug that has a positive effect on NMDA activity and is used for negative symptoms in schizophrenia? Its a novel drug and is obviosuly marketed actively, that flyer looked cool as shit, really hi class paper it was printed on and a custom paper format spanning across 6 pages

btw nmda receptors have a modulatory glycine site.

edit: yeah bitopertin could be it. ill know next week if my brain allows me to remember. alternatively i could write it on my forehead.

oh there we go. i wasnt mistaken after all! :D it is a glyt inhibitor and is supposed to potentiate nmda activity. why the fuck would it not affect behavioural changes caused by ketmaine though? well well, only one way t0 find out i says. no time to lose. weve got to act quickly before the mushroom people eat my brains or dr zeng gets ahold of the pluryophotocannon


edit2: btw how did u find that out so quickly? im really fucking good at gathering knowledge online, but this has been a weak spot in my system for quite some time. e.g. i hear of a novel drug entering clinical trials and i cant seem to find out the name two months later. is there some repository of at the fda or something? btw im in germany, ill check if this is available. in which case itll most likely be this drug that was referenced. im too scattered to check out how which proteines exactly are inhibited and through which mechanism by the drug you psoted vs the paper. i havent even had a long enough attention span to read the abstract. i just broadscanned it and extracted "ketamine-memory was bomb-but still high as shit-mice"

oh and glycine isnt just modulating nmda receptors as in making them more sensitive, but is supposedly a required co-agonist. really weird. they taught me different at uni, but they taught us lots of crap that couldve been better researched on ones own.
