I was on Addy off and on for 20 months, I did some rough math out of curiosity just to see where I was at in regards to neurotoxicity and came to a total of roughly 17,000-20,000 mg of Adderall. I took 60-70 mg/day when I started and 150-180 mg/day towards the end.

Where are some of you all at and what kind of neurotoxic effects are you experiencing?

i took vyvanse 70mg a day for about 2-3 months, i gradually worked up on the dosage and began abusing it heavily for about 3 months taking 210-350 mg a day so i could stay up for 4 or 5 days straight then crash for 2 days. as far as neurotoxic effects, during this time of heavy usage i had some very intense and horrifying auditory and visual hallucinations due to amphetamine psychosis. i eventually went cold turkey off the stuff which felt like hell except i used alcohol to help with the comedowns for the 1st week and a half. after i was free of the worst part of the chemical dependency, i suffered extreme depression, fogginess, and lethargy for a good 6 months as my dopamine receptors had to rejuvenate. i slowly recovered to feeling how i felt before vyvance after 6 months of being clean, but it took a good year before i felt 100% back to normal.

i know that adderall is quite a bit stronger than vyvanse and the fact that you took it for 20 months as opposed to the 5-6 months i took vyvance leads me to believe your going to have a much tougher time kicking this stuff (if that is the course of action you want to take.) you might look into Welbutrin which can function as a kind of recovery drug for people getting off of amphetamines.

I just did the math for my usage

I started at the end of 2010 with prescriptions every month for 120 count 20mg IR adderall.
my doc changed my monthly script dosage around august 2011 to 90 count 30mg IR adderall and was on this amount until jan of 2012.
Then i stopped until august of this year and ive been prescribed a monthly 60 count of 30mg IR adderall since.

All together my lifetime intake has been 39,600mg. Throw my illicit use of amphetamines in the mix along with the scripts and im sitting well above 40,000mg lol.

I used to stay on a steady dosage from month to month but now I'll take my script entirely in two weeks so i can take a break before my script is due to be refilled. I can honestly say the steady dosage of amps i took month after month after month, made me fucking insane. This break routine seems to be more effective for me in the long run

I agree with the suggestion of wellbutrin or another anti-depressant for recovery. Zoloft worked very well for me when i had the six month break, however I was in jail so the relapse of amps was impossible for me even if i wanted to.

The only thing that makes this thread moderately acceptable for BDD is the question "what kind of neurotoxic effects are you experiencing?" but even that is so subjective and people don't necessarily know if they have any neurotoxicity, or if adverse effects they have noticed may be caused by use of other drugs, be temporary, be due to rebound effects from stopping, be unrelated to their amp use, etc. I don't really see the value in calculating one's lifetime consumption of an amphetamine. Could easily lead to what we call "dicksizing", or someone could see that user X has done X mgs of X drug and says they are fine and conclude that extended or high-dose use is perfectly fine. Neurotoxicity may not be correlated with total lifetime quantities used of a drug either and may vary from drug to drug and person to person.

Not sure if this thread should really stay open to be honest...

Thanks for the link, s2k.

But Swimmingdancer is right, this could easily go overboard and become a "dicksizing" thread, so I'll close it. OP, you can send me a PM if you need.
