I was just looking at one of nightwatchs reports on pill reports (the most recent one on white rhinos) and he tested with Marquis and it showed no sign of AMP, but his Mandelin does.....??

So basically Maquis only picks up AMP when its the right amount????

I hope this isnt true...I try to avoid mixing MDxx + AMP so I bought a Marquis reagent. BUT IT DOESNT EVEN PICK IT UP ALL THE TIME.

Can anybody tell me why his marquis wouldnt react to the AMP????

Marquis is normally great for detecting any amount of amps so the results are strange to say the least. I would like to hear his roll report to see if it matches the suspected contents?

I've always found the mandelin reagent is good for detecting amphetamines. Not had much experience with marquis but is it possible the MDxx reaction over powered the amphetamine reaction..? I'm not sure how long marquis should take to react to amp but if it takes around the same time to react as MDxx then there is a chance the black from the MDxx covered up the reaction, especially if there is a low dosage of meth in those pills.

There has only been one time in my ecstasy taking career that a pill I tested and thought was clean (all black reaction, no trace of amp at all w/Marquis, thought it was jacked up with caffeine after taking it) ended up having a trace of meth in them when tested by eData. They were these lovely VG's: http://www.ecstasydata.org/view.php?id=1489

I am usually extremely sensitive to meth, and I didn't feel it in those at all. As I mentioned, I thought it was caffeine content and not meth that kept me awake more than normal, as I didn't have any of the meth like symptoms of speediness. There were no indications with the Marquis of amps, no brown ring, ect.

Testing kits can only do so much.

Marquis coulda flashed its colors too fast for nightwatch to c or his lighting was wrong. Ive seen jm67555 test pills right next to me and seen diff reactions so it All kinda depends, also some tests will detect diff chems better, i not 100 on it tho.... So dnt quote that last part lol

^^Let me know if it helps... I used a mandelin on pills I suspected a trace of meth, and got the same straight black results :\ I noticed the older my kit got though, the slower the reactions, and I started seeing more amp in the beans. I'm guessing if the MDxx overwhelms the reactions quickly, you won't see. But if it reacts slower, you can see the reaction better, see streaks of orange etc. I noticed I saw more streaks of orange in the last 6 months, but it could be just the quality of the beans lately too :\

I've found marquis to be somewhat hard to discern the presence of meth sometimes. I've only seen ONE absolute meth reaction in all my times of testing. But I have seen a slower reaction time, or a grayish brownish mud like reaction that soon turns to black or purple with the marquis. As I said it is sometimes hard to discern a meth reaction with the marquis.

Now if you have the full reagent tests kits then this should help to eliminate the doubt I would think. Now I have never used anything but the marquis. But from what I understand, once you get a positive for an mdxx substance with the marquis, you can then go about determining if meth is present with the use of the other reagents.

Amphetamine/methamphetamine don't show up well in any of the three reagents. Certainly, even much smaller amounts of other substances will cover them up. But the same is true of pipes...

Obviously edata is the safest option, but who has $40 to test a pill when you can test 100 pills for $25 yourself... I did notice though as they get older, the reactions slow, and you can see the streaks of other colors vs the way the puddle goes instantly black on a new kit. Regardless, field testing a pill is MUCH safer than dropping completely untested
