I am on a course of Augmentin for tonsillitis (amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium), I?m only on them 2 days but I feel 100% better. I have a big even this weekend, meeting up with lots of friends and we had planned to do drugs. What drug is the safest to take in conjunction with my Augmentin? Should I stop them for the day I?m taking drugs?

Don't stop using your antibiotics even if you begin to feel better. If you had a certain drug in mind, I can check for interactions. Otherwise, we can't recommend what drug you could take.

EASY, search 'amoxicillin/clavulanante interactions in Google. Avoid anything that shows a significant interaction

It sucks because there seems to be a great deal of conjecture on the subject, even among doctors. This really sucks but I would like to leave this at, for the benefit of your health, take the antibiotics, they are working right? Do not mess with your body in any way. I'm not saying you can't, but I am saying, that given the disagreement among doctors, it would be irresponsible to advise you on the use of recreational drugs. The fact that the subjects are a recreational drug and a drug primarily used as anesthesia.

Apparently, the antibiotic in question messes with enzyme activity in the body. I'm going to try to read up on the subject today.
