ammount needed to test

I am not exactly clear as to how much of a pill one would need to test. The directions say "the size of a pin head" or something to that effect. Does that mean one could take a key and scratch off just a tiny bit and drop the reagent on it? It seems to me that you could scratch off just binder and filler with that method... please advise thanks.

just scratch off a little bit. The substances in the pill should be/are thoroughly mixed, it's not like the active stuff is on the inside and the filer on the outside...
