Amitryptaline Uses (Codeine potentiation?)

Hey guys, recently acquired a bunch of 10mg amitryptaline 'Endep' tablets. I have heard mixed reports on their usefulness for potentiating codeine, it seems many are in consensus it is a good opioid potentiator in general but there are some reports of it inhibiting CYP2D6 which would make it unsuitable for use with codeine.

Anyway I was just curious if it could be used to potentiate codeine, also if I would have to wait to take it after dosing codeine to prevent it inhibiting the conversion to morphine.

I am also interested in any synergy this drug may have with other drugs, particularly sedatives/benzo's as I have access to a variety. I have been informed they potentiate hallucinogens but these are not something I indulge in frequently these days.

Also, I was told there are reports of it being used in conjunction with marijuana causing tachycardia, as I smoke marijuana daily I would appreciate any info on this, although the odds are in favour of me attempting that one before even getting a response. Was thinking of necking a few temazepam or diazepam with some tonight if there are some positive reports.

Anyway, would appreciate any info on it's use with other recreational drugs as well as any drugs to avoid whilst using this medication. Cheers guys!

Tachycardia is literally defined as >100bpm. I doubt there will be any issues mixing MJ.

Morphine is not the reason you get high from Codeine (not the primary reason anyway). There are two other metabolites that cause the subjective high that Codeine gives you. For this reason I'm not sure that CYP2D6 inhibition would be particularly significant in detracting from the experience.

taking the amitryptaline on codeine will probably just knock you out man. not worth the bother.

that's probably what would make the nod feel harder too, if it did at all. cause you'd just feel more tired, so the nod would feel heavier.

guess, if you look at it the other way..you're only issue is making sure you stay awake.

i'd skip it, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't work and i'd discourage it with any great conviction.

just think it'd be a waste of a nice codeine buzz. i find amitryptaline to make me feel quite a lot of nausea after taking it

I am not a fan of anti depressants in general... they always fuck me up and not in a good way. I think maybe it would increase your nod because it causes drowsiness. But other than that I don't know.

The only time I was scripted amitryptaline was when I was on dexedrine as a kid for ADHD... it was supposed to help me sleep.

Good luck and I hope you find what you're looking for...

MJ causes low levels of tachycardia all by itself. MJ is a mixture of every drug type besides dissociative.

hi :)
Depending on personal tolerances, i take amitryptaline pretty regular and have found they can work really well with weed, and opiates.. the often can mingle well, just not more than a half to only one tablet with the opiate pills also taken with the amitryptaline can be a a really nice time..just like with any pills though, dont over do them at first until your body knows how it will react to them.. my normaly rule is to take one or two more than the orignal perscribed dosage, that way you get a small taste of its worth doing more of..if any of that makes sense as it did in my head lol
Oh, and you might want to check out drug interactions of them , i know they are not meant to be used along with buprenorphine so there are some thing that they dont mix at all with, but most opiate as far as im aware are as safe as any drug combo can be, and pleasent when they kick in :)
just take usual precautions..

oh, sorry, wanted to add to that i am sure most of you here at Bluelight know of this site, but would recommend it for user reports, information and safe and unsafe combinations to use..www.erowid.com its come in great use for me for years now as i dont do anything that i havnt read about and researched first..a rouge pharmacist lol

CYP450 Chart of Inhibitors/Inducers/Substrates.

I would look for you quickly but I'm in work :)

That chart lists amitryptaline as a "substrate" of all the CYP450 enzymes except the last one, CYP2C8. What exactly does this mean and how does it affect codeine?

I tried it with marijuana last night and at one point lying in bed my heart was racing, but it was easily manageable. I didn't notice much in the way of effects an hour after popping 20mg, but a slight shift in consciousness. It definately made marijuana hit me harder. Today I have a slight groggy feeling similar to if I had taken seroquel the night prior.
