Amitriptyline or other MAOI's for pain?

Has anyone tried this? I deal with chronic pain and my doc prescribed me Vanatrip to help deal with it which is an anti-depressant. I can see the logic in it, as pain is depressing but I also read that the drug is used for migraines and anxiety. I am wondering if anyone here has experience with it. I am currently taking 25 mg. I also have other meds I take but this has piqued my curiosity. Thanks!

Hi, amitriptyline is not a MAOI, it's a sedative tricyclic antidepressant. It can be very useful for neuropathic pain, though. Take care
