So my back is fucked due to a weight lifting injury , had MRI, Inflammation bloods and all that, nothing showing up, they are testing me for some other condition now, anyways they gave me 10mg amitriptyline to take at night , just a simple question, is it really worth it ? I took 150mg of it before when self medicating to give me a kick up the ass and it was amazing loved it lol, even asked my psychiatrist to give me it lol, but this is totally different, this is for severe back pain and it's only 10mg at night, anyone think this is worth putting into my body in my case, I have sever anxiety and on Diazepam for that , So not sure if SSRI's is a gd idea, mind you if 150mgs was good mentally I don't Imagine 10 mg would do any harm haha, just looking for a second opinion as I'm sitting here talking to myself :?

No, that's worthless. 20mgs is supposed to be enough to gain all the pain-killing benefits out of that particular medication. I never found it to be helpful, personally.

I think it's pointless as well , Dr's don't want to prescribe anything over 30/500 codeine/paracetamol about here, I got myself on Tramadol but asked to come back off it because of the SNRI properties and W/Ds so back on 30/500's (SHIT) I know exactly what painkiller I need but if I mention it once it'll be go away drugseeker lol, a simple 120mg DHC does me fine with paracetamol for breakthrough , round here that's seen as potent as morphine wich is seen as cancer patient material, in the states u could hydro/oxy and fuck knows what lol

I can't recall, is dantrolene sodium available in the UK? If you're having musculoskeletal problems, it's a fantastic muscle relaxer and definitely worth a try.

Sure is just checked the NHS website, I will be sure to ask my doc about this next visit, think I'll just leave the Amitriptyline , muscle spasms are a possibility though I am on 30mgs Diazpepam per day from another clinic ( they don't know about so that might go in my favour ) and still in pain , but defoe gna mention that to the Doc , that's what I like about this site complete strangers can give u some brilliant advice ;)

Well the doc basically told me that's what she was giving me it for, to get a good sleep ?? Hello ?? Still in fuckin agony when I wake up lol

What is it with doctors here?! My mum has 3 slipped discs and sciatica and she gets 100mg of tramadol a day + 60 mg of amitrptaline. Shes also in constant pain and having to buy codeine linctus and co codamol.

That's fuckin sick mate, I'm in Scotland suppose they're just the same where u are, I'm in constant pain as well I need to buy Dihydrocodeine 120mg tabs from a guy and they work but I can't rely on it when he runs out he runs out then it's back to co-cos , they absolutely hate giving tramadol out here , they see it as co-cos - tramadol - morphine, they forget about co-drydamol, DHC, MST, oxy/hydro all the pain killers the americans talk about, fuckin brain dead, Although u can buy Paramol over the counter wich contains DHC , they won't prescribe the slightly higher dose form , I hear u mate !

I'm not a doctor but it's common sense that ur mum should not be on Tramadol + Amitriptyline , 1 is an SSRI the other has SNRI properties (Tramadol) your mum will go through hell if she tries to quit those, and I don't know much about serotonin syndrome but it doesn't sound pleasant , if that was my mum I'd get her changed docs or have a word with the doc mate, I basically told my doc today Im leaving the surgery if they don't start listening to me. :)

When I was working I was considering it, I got some quotes, I lost a full time job in a CALL CENTRE simply because the dr would not give me a decent pain killer, I work casul now as a Gardner but got to be very carefull, the new DR I seen today told me I can't lift weights at all, I can't push a shopping trolley and I can't wrestle with my 3 yr old son, that last part was a serious kick in the balls man, although I will soldier on !!

I've read your link and I'm worried(thanks for posting it snake_eyes). I think we need to see a different dr.(and that's up to the nhs we have no choice really) She also has severe anxiety, if she runs out of amitryptaline early she experiences massive panic attacks. I'll say it again im really pissed off about this.

Benzoman12345 shit, that sounds bad. You cant even play with your son? That's no joke man im sorry your in that position. How you managed to find a decent diy way to relieve your pain? Sometimes were forced into that position and its not right.

Yeah mate such is life but it could be worse , by the sounds of things ur mum does well from the Amitryptiline mentally and it's the pain killer that's needing changing. Yeah she told me all I can do is go swimming, I was a boxer at 14 yrs old , I have always been a weight lifter at 1 point I was 14 stone of pure muscle and I'm about 5"10 , since this happened I'm down to 13 and arms have shrunk and belly has grew so u can imagine how gutted I am, Dr's couldn't give a shit but to me it's what I do it's my thing and for someone to tell me I can never do it again , awchh, but fuck that I'm still lifting just being extra extra carefull and taking a certain steroid that's well known for lubricating joints, I'll never box again tho .

Elavil(amitriptyline) is actually commonly used in conjunction with SSRIs and SNRIs. It's not necessarily pleasant tho, I wouldn't be surprised if she had developed a tremble or increased heart rate. That particular medication has a very nasty side-effect profile.

Yeah when I took it a while back at 150mgs out of silliness, I got an amazing sleep (obv) bounced out of bed the next day eyes like black puddings as if I was on pure amphetamine, heart was pounding and a bit of a tremor, that was at a crazy high dose but the heart rate is a well known side effect, and tramadol should just not be used as a painkiller IMO, when u stop taking it u get nasty anti-depressant AND opiod W/Ds , it's just wrong, so many better options.

Whoa thats a big dose! I did try it once or twice but never got those kind of symptoms. My mum however becomes frantic, increased blood rate just like u said morphling. Its a catch 22 innit there aren't many things they can give you for pain besides addictive drugs. I'm thinking of taking up boxing myself (i cant handle myself in a fight at all and its something I'd like to do)

I dont know if it would help your pain benzoman, but I've been looking into kratom its supposed to he a legal, natural painkiller in the right doses. It acts as an opiate agonist only its far less addictive than opiate drugs. I'm hoping it'll work for my mum and get her off the codeine linctus.it might be worth lookin into 4 you. The nhs will only do so much 4 you after all.

that's true mate, as far as I'm aware kratom is just a herb that u smoke, but hits the opiate receptors ??? Never really looked into it. I'm gny try some other things I don't know if u know much about steroids but if uve heard of Human Growth Hormone well theres a releasing peptide that u can buy called TB500 and studies show it to repair damaged muscle tissue, tendons , ligiments etc, although it's dear as fuck I'll need a serious cash injection for that shit, 1 things for sure I'm not lying down to it , got my whole life ahead of me ! Boxing is a great thing to get into mate, it will boost ur confidence and make u feel really good about urself especially after ur 1st session when u wake up the next day with aching muscles that u never even knew u had lol , are u still young mate ?

Ah, youngish 28. Gotta get back into shape...I've started going out for nightime bikerides again, but boxing is something on my to do list. (Toughen me up a bit i reckon)

That's bloody mental about the growth hormones sounds like a bit of a miracle pill. (I know nothing of steroids tho). As for kratom you just make tea with it. Ive got a packge due any day and I'll def pm you to tell you if it works for pain.

Yeah, I feel you about cash flow as well ...having to do manual work in chronic pain does not sound good mate; have u thought about a more easy going scheme?
