Here's a story on fox news online of all places exposing the truth of failed and corrupt war on drugs tearing lives appart on both sides of the border and rife with corruption on both sides. I know their is no suprise among bluelighters

"The American public is being led to believe that we have a drug war and border war and a terror war that are all being successfully prosecuted, and that is absolutely not the case," the informant told Fox News. "The American people, the American taxpayer are being bilked for billions of dollars in programs that are utter and abject failures."

Yep. I just don't get how the government can continue to lie to itself. Wait, yes I do...

Glad to see that Fox News is reporting this, however...

I hear you, but the fact the fox was willing to run the strory- though they seem to be willing to do anything to undermine this administration, makes this more intriguing- maybe some are finally getting fed up with the drug war. Maybe, they might be thinking of putting the narco-industrial programs on the budget choping block in the house as part of the effort to ease the budget crisis-America cant afford. Somehow I doubt it, but fox has a few people on as of late that masquarade as real libertarians that atleast have some libertarian leaning Ideas.

But alot of this might be wishful thinking on my part, there is a sector of America that is getting disillusioned with the drug war, especially with so many people that know people afflicted with addiction and the popularity of shows like intervention and relapse.

However, the prison gaurds union is strong and their are alot of empty private prisons in Texas that were supposed to save small towns that need filling.

But with 14 trillion deficit we can't afford to be the worlds biggest jailer- for real. General governmantal contempt for the Constitution and decleration of Independence aside.

I am not that optimistic about this article. It might very well be an attempt to create a stereotype of WoD opposer - a money driven ex-felon.

On the side note it's funny that since they couldn't publish his name, they described him very carefully (6 feet tall, white, speaks with southern accent and drives a new SUV etc).

I hear they further elaborated on this description to include the facts that he also: has hair, and wears T-shirts sometimes...8)

As you might've seen the article also mentioned his prison record, working area, hints about his charges and describes a couple of situations from his work. But fair enough, I see your point.

I hear you. But he was also described as a former US Army Ranger. That notches up his credibility and patrotism alittle bit in Fox world. The fact is not that its was true or false- and I have no doubt their was alot of truth. I'm sure he could be easily identified. But, even if they conjured him up out of thin air, Fox ran an article that was critical to the war on drugs- citing corruption on both sides of the border, and a thriving gun running incident that their is evidence was orchestrated by high levels maybe including Hillary Clinton or members of her staff. Maybe the arms industry lobbyists dictated this policy- gun running is big bussiness.

Calderone apparently found out or heard alegations and was very unhappy. Lots of people die their every day. Its like having a small scale Libyia or Iraq in 07' but you don't hear that much about it in comaparison in the media. In fact, civilian deaths are so high alone that you don't hear stories about murders unless they stumble across mass burial sites a la Milosevich without the fanfare.

The war there is silent compared to other wars going on now. So the evidence connected to a larger scale high level of corruption is high level members of the ATF ignoring arms shipments south (it is not suprising that Calderone refused Obamas request to arm agents in Mexico- During his State vist joint press conference were he flat out denied that right in a joint press conference.
Probably scared were gonna occupy them plus he might at that time been privy to US complicicy in arms shipments south.

At any rate, Fox will use any excuse to smear Obama, even criticizing moves in our other wars that they would have supported during the Bush administration. They also need to cut the budget and maybe the sector of the right opposing the war on drugs is starting to take root in more than just Ron Paul Republicans. Maybe they are seeing it as a luxury, with the attendent corruption and untaxable money laundering, ect... that cannot be aforded compared to other fiscal priorities.

There are Libertarian viewpoints. Stosel is a prety good Libertarian, Ron Paul is interviewed occasionally. On the Radio they have Chip Franklin here in San Diego who is a self described Libertarian and SAchnitz on fox radio that has refered to himself as a Libertarian but doesn't strike me as an all the way Libertarian. Apparently he grew up in Alaska- once a solid Libertarian stronghold, not as much anymore, but they remain the only state to vote a Libertarian into office.

Real, all the way Libertarians are opposed to the war on drugs above all because it runs contray to principles besides which it has led into theis huge Narco-Prison-Industrial complex. A big Slap in the face of the Founding Fathers.

Or it could have been a way of Fox dicrediting the WoD, by making its opponents seem like self serving kooks.

I'm not sure how the WoD can be justified by Fox, the Tea Party, Republicans when they spout rhetoric about restoring personal Freedoms and decreasing the size of the government. But all the major media outlets are owned. Thats why I like the discussions in CEP- the international group of posters are better informed and due their homework on issues more than your average American that gets their news (if they aren't realty TV junkies) from the media that is controlled by corporations and influenced by the government as opposed to journalistic integrity. '

Alot of disillusionment I hear comming from coworkers spouses in the military. My coworker told his wife (he's a Marine that recently returned from Afganistan and has gone on several deployments. He has her listen to KNPR on the way to work because in her words he told her whats reported on the News is pure Bullshit- npr is bullshit lite I guess.

The lying about the WoD is analogous except that their is a greater profit margin and many far reaching private interests that have corrupted the highest level of government in this country.)

It would appear that their is less corruption, by comparison with the anti narcotics apparatus in the UK were they have made great gains and eliminating illegal drug use a major priority. I guess the pub-industrial complex is strong over their.

[QUOTEmaybe all the execs at fox started having to pay more for their meth, coke and heroin, and decided theyre fed up with the governments bull, THEY WANT THEYRE DRUGS DAMNIT! ][/QUOTE]

Probably, though they are all probably pulling Limbaughs. Opana is probably a good substitute for stuff. They probably even have docs writing for seconal.

This is pretty interesting. 350 a pound.....niceeee. Whose phone keeps getting text messages during the interview? Not very professional Fox News.

Haha in the video the informant says "the reality is....that most of the American government and border patrol officials have their hands in the cookie jar".
