I think it's apparent that the laws were passed to take money away from growers and sellers and put it into the hands of the government. I'm glad we still have medical marijuana only in California to be quite honest.

I will agree with you to some extent, but these shops will also provide lots of jobs for sales people. Dispensaries still purchase their product - what they don't grow themselves - from independent growers, I have a buddy who makes his income this way. I think this is just the price you pay for having the government legalize recreational marijuana, it would be idealistic to think they will make it legal and not want in on the profits. Hopefully we will find a balance between jobs and benefits for citizens, and tax revenue going to the government. BL'ers have been saying for years and years to legalize drugs so we can tax them and have a somewhat regulated market.
