Ambien, Klonopin, and Percocet

Okay,

So to start off, I have an unfortunately high tolerance to benzos (klonopin for over three years) and Z drugs (for quite some time.) Today, I took 2mg of Klonopin, 40mg of Ambien in the morning, then went to a get together, had three beers, then picked up 20mg of percocet. Just recently, I took 30mg more of Ambien (70mg of Ambien total for the day,) and I am getting my normal buzz from it, but I know it is short acting, so the effects basically calm me down and zone me out...I've never done stupid stuff on hypnotics.

My question is, if I keep the percocet for tomorrow, should everything be out of my system for a nice clean opiate high? Are there any dangers to me taking 20mg percocet given what I've taken today? (I handle opiates very well, but my tolerance isn't the highest at the moment)

Also to clarify, and maybe some people can relate...I don't do these drugs for fun (well, the opiates yes, but for other reasons as well.) I am cursed with a terrible case of OCD, not that bulltshit OCD you hear about if someone simply dislikes disorder...I constantly have thoughts going through my head and horrible panic attacks...opiates seem to be the only think to help. I've even discussed this with my psych and she somewhat agrees...
Anyway, good talking to yall. Looking for some constructive freedback and maybe some similar stories of people who abuse medications for relief from mental illnesses?

I'm curious as to what benefits you get from Ambien. I was on benzos for a while (self-medicating for anxiety, then tapering with doc's help) and whenever I forced myself to stay awake on Ambien I'd just get a really fucked-up 'wired' feeling, sometimes with mild hallucinations. I just can't imagine taking it in the morning and going about my day.

Anyway, the zolpidem should be out of your system in 24hr but the clonazepam will not be. Its half-life is well over 24hr (30-50 IIRC). It would take several days to eliminate most of it from your bloodstream and longer if you've been taking it regularly.

That being said, if you have a significant tolerance to the effects of benzodiazepines you might not experience severe synergistic respiratory depression effects from combining opiates + benzos. However, you shouldn't bet your life on my opinion. If you really, really want to do this: wait a full day after taking your klonopin then start off with a 5mg percocet. If you're not drowsy and sleepy in an hour, you can make the decision to take some more.

Most people report that clonazepam strangely blocks the hallucinogenic effects of ambien.
I've experienced this first hand - been on 4mg of klonopin, then took 20mg of zolpidem and felt nothing

Oh and FYI, 2mg of klonopin with 20mg of percocet is well within acceptable boundaries for safety, especially given your tolerance to klonopin.

Just as an example, I know a person who takes 20mg of benzos a day along with his 200mg/day methadone.... Often times he becomes incoherent and barely able to stay awake, but it has not killed him yet and he's been doing these reckless combinations for years

Hey,

I am aware of the dangers of taking benzos along with opiates. I wasn't worried about that though, I was more worried about the alcohol and the zolpidem. When I do take opiates, they are either ingested before or after my klonopin dosage for the day (i've been on 1.5mg - 2mg for over three years) and I still do not nod, even on a 40mg hydrocodone dose...
I don't plan to take them together, but recently, I took 10mg of percocet (didn't do too much) and I took my Klonopin the same day with no ill effects.

Thank you for the feedback. Given this information, should the percocet be safe to take after the zolpidem is out of my system? Some places say zolpidem only takes 12 hours to get out of the system because of its extremely short half-life.

Yes.
Although keep in mind that zolpidem metabolism is cumulative; the more you take the longer the effects are going to last. 10mg may last 2 hours where 40mg has lasted as long as 7 hours for me before.
But 70mg? How are you even functional? Are you sleep-posting right now?
50mg in one day ended up with me running around a high school, chasing people down to try and capture their evil twin because I was seeing double of everything. I only gained bits and pieces of that day from what other people had told me.

I don't know how I am functional. I am actually having an insomniac moment right now, so I took 2 melatonin. Since melatonin is natural, will it affect my percocet experience at all?

At around 11am yesterday morning I took 40mg of Ambien, only for slight effects, and I was fine...I guess it is just my tolerance. Then later that night, I took 30mg more. I barely got anything from it. So when would be a safe hour for me to take the 20mg of percocet today? Sorry for so many questions, but these forums are here for a reason :D.

bump?

Sorry for bumping.
The only danger to taking the percocet today would be respiratory problems, right? I mean, I ended up taking 70mg of ambien total yesterday and still could not fall asleep. I remember everything I did as well. I took melatonin to try to help. I ended up falling asleep at 4am and woke up at around 7:30am...ugh. My question is, if I am fine now, and didn't experience anything really from the ambien, is it safe to take the percocet today? I have already taken my 1.5mg of klonopin today, but that is normal for me...I've been on it for almost three years (prescription)

Taking the klonopin for years would definitely have your body acclimated to its sedating effects, but combining depressant drugs often has a way of messing with any natural tolerance you may have. I was on benzo's for years and I wouldn't feel much from 4mg of klonopin, but when I'd combine it with a tiny amount of alcohol it would still knock me on my ass. I don't know what it would be like to combine percocets with them.

I figure by now you either took the percs or you didn't. If you did, tell us how much you ended up taking and how it came out for you. If you didn't, I'd stand by my previous recommendation to take 5-10mg of the oxycodone and if you don't feel drowsy you can take the rest.

Of course from a harm-reduction standpoint the only way to be certain that there won't be any adverse interactions is to wait for the clonazepam to completely leave your system.
