I've been taking Ambien for a year and a half at 10mg. I used to love how it made me feel but I'm sure by now I've gotten used to it. How long would I potentially have to go off it before it felt the same/is this actually a super dangerous prescription to use perpetually/thoughts in general?

Not really understanding your post.

However. Ambien is a short term treatment for insomia. You shouldn't be taking it long-term as you will become dependant on it for sleep. That will be worse than insomia In the first place. Sounds like you have gotten tolerance so maybe a month or so break from it will do you just to acquire your desired effects again.

I recommend In the meantime that if you encounter insomia again then take melatonin daily as it will help readjust your sleeping cycle if that's the main thing you need help in.

Ofc proper diet and exercise accompanied by healthy living will render any sleep aid 'not necessary'.

Good luck and fly safely

Were you prescribed it for inter alia insomnia, or just abusing it for a high?

Have you been taking 10mg every day for 18 months, or just every now and then for 18 months?

My answer would differ drastically on how you answer them 2 questions.

Abusing it every now and then for 18 months? ~3 month break at a guess, differs massively.

Prescribed it for every day use for 18 months? ~6 month break at a guess, differs massively.

prescribed for sleep problems, i used it less at the start but i think i've been building tolerance. i didn't used to have to take an "abusive" dose for the high/euphoric effects, even half of what i was prescribed had me whacked, but that doesn't happen anymore.
thank you for the time periods!

ok thank you! i found melatonin at walgreens a few months ago so i have that for just-in-case nights, but its a good idea to use it to help readjust instead of as a quick sleep fix.
