Ambien and Your Memory

For awhile now I've laid off on most other drugs except for ambien, which I use about every other weekend. I usually dont dose too high, about 15 mgs or less, (Im light...) I have noticed the days following my use that I make many more writing mistakes than usual. For example, I will completely omit a word from a sentence, or not include the last letter of a word...I mean, we all makes mistakes, but I have noticed a significant increase in errors during the days following. It seems to get better eventually though.
I dunno, it might just be me.. ;)
My question is whether or not any of you have had any noticable memory affects from ambien, or any other effects for that matter. Thanks :)

a friend of mine will forget something that was said to him five minutes ago the morning after using the normal dose for ambien. he also sometimes is a little slower putting sentences and thoughts together. i think it's called "traveler's amnesia" or something. at any rate, his symptoms seem to disappear when he's off his medication.

ambien is a new drug on the market. we wont know how many bad things it does to our minds until it has been around for quite a while.
for example, look at ssri's. some doctors STILL dont fucking know theyre physically addictive. wtf.
if there are any doctors in the bunch, without loads of anecdotal evidence, quit lining your pockets from the drug companies, and quit testing your drugs on my brain without telling me the consequences. [/rant]
 
Look up ambien on a web search! It will screw with your memory! There are a few sites dedicated to its abuse. I basically have a lifetime script for it to help me sleep with recomended dose 10-20mg. I have lost the hour of memory before I took my bedtime dose on several ocasions...my wife coments on sex the previous night and I don't have a clue. I looked up a site http://www.insomniacure.com/PillowTalk.html it has a lot of info. I know it can be a fun experience but be careful!
 
this is a little bit strayeed from the subject but i really am interested to know what class of drug ambien falls under......i think its a benzo but im not a 100% sure on that information....

ambien is great but i can never really remember what i did when i was on it. For example, i almost bought a 2k computer when i was surfing the internet when i was on it. i didn't know about this untill i looked at my email the next day and cancelled the order. but..it is the best sleeping aid cuz i've never had a hangover.
 
trying to remember what you did while on the shit... now thats impossible... i enjoy ambien WAY TOOOOOO MUCH... i even tried to break INTO jail one time while on the shit... i too have noticed a slight loss of brain function afterwards... thats hypnotics for you...
 
Yea I took about 40 or 50mg last weekend. I dont remember VERY much of the night. I would say it was about the same as 6-10mg of xanex.
 
MultistateOffender, my good friend was just arrested for breaking into a gas station at night, and still does not remember anything about it. He took 2 ambien, not sure of the mg, just to help him sleep. Layed down, then next thing he knows he has a shotgun in his face. His clothes were all mismatched shit he never wears, some how he found a bottle of champaign that night, an empty bottle was found. And in the garage where his ciggy roller is it was full of some kinda spices "not weed". Point being to this paragraph, where can I find some more information about adverse side affects of Ambien? Im trying to get all the information I can for him and his lawyer.

I dont mean to insult your intelligence if you have already tried this, but I would think that RXLIST.com would be your best bet. Erowid.org has little information but has some interesting stories of people losing reality. Good luck to your friend.
 
Ambien + Alcohol = Amnesia
There are QUITE a few antecdotal cases out there. The amnesia seems to become even more profound with increase in dosage (of either the Ambien or the alcohol).
