Is there any anecdotal experiences with this compound? I was recently perscribed 200mg in the AM and a 100mg early noon. Just started this med anything will be appreciated.

From what I have read, amantadine shown here:

is similar to Namenda (memantine) shown here:
1920px-Memantine_chemical_structure.svg.png

As you can see the structures are very closely related.

Amantadine appears to have a very wide receptor activity profile. Hitting NMDA sites, increasing dopamine release and blocking its reuptake, and affecting some anticholinergic sites. Amantadine has a significantly shorter half-life than Memantine. Amantadine is fully excreted after 15 hours for a 100mg dose or a rate of 5 mg per hour. Maximum blood levels of Amantadine are reached within four hours for a 100mg dose. (This information is from the monograph for Amantadine found here.) As for Memantine, its elimination half-life ranges from 60-80 hours with maximum blood levels being reached between 3 and 8 hours. (This information is from the monograph for Memantine found here.)

There are no trip reports on Erowid dedicated to the drug alone. There is no information on TripSit either.
The only information that can be found regarding recreational use is on Bluelight. It appears there is a thread here that has loads of information on both Amantadine and Memantine. Also check out this message from a different thread.

Stay safe and best wishes!

Yeah memantine is awesome. Like a dopaminergic and cleaner feeling DXM variant with a 3 days half life. It killed morphine withdrawal for me and helps with anxieties. Problem is the insomnia, that's why I had to quit and am currently considering DXM again.

But I've always been curious about amantadine and bromantane. They seem all to possess unique properties. Amantadine is OTC here (as an antiviral even when I think most of todays influenza strains had resistance) but unfortunately only sold in combination with other flu stuff.

"Amantadine only cause seizures" isn't true. Of course, it can cause seizures, but I'm not planning taking high doses, only mix with other drugs.
I'm a type of deliriant guy, but I love dissociatives too on free times.
I've heard that amantadine is a unique deliriant and a dissociative in high doses (the doses that could induce seizures, so I'm not going into that). Sounds amazing to use low dosages to enhance other deliriants and dissociatives.

Isnt this whats referred to as the bliss molecule or at I thinking about something else?

I’ve seen it advertised as an active ingredient in something. I’m pretty sure it was amantadine that was referred to as the bliss molecule. I can’t remember what it was in tho

No but Im sure it was some kind of supplement to help with dopamine tho cause I’m always trying to find something to help anhedonia. But if you just google amantadine bliss molecule you get a lot of interesting info about it. You might wanna check it out. But as far as experience with it I don’t have any. I’m sorry I wish I did

Oh, you're talking about ANANDAMIDE, not AMANTADINE.

Where are u from?

It caused seizures and not much more
Sorry, I know that seizures are common risks, but so much drugs share the same risk... Low doses are suposed to be very stimulant, mid doses start a little bit dissociative effects and higher doses become a deliriant (not safe, of course).
In addition to have effects on dopamine/norepinephrine, sigma receptor and NMDA, what antagonism of nicotinic receptors do? I made a post about but I haven't any answer, it's said to contribute for hallucinations.

Ok.
I'll give u full story.
I had 10x 90pills boxes of amantadine.
I tried one pill, 2, 10 pills. It made me unwell and caused seizures but i am prone to them.
Speaking about amantadine high, once i took it with modafinil, dxm, possibly tramadol and benzos and i walked my dog on meadow with high grass and suddenly i felt like i am walking my dog in water. I 100% felt like i am moving in water and honestly, it was fun i had good mood, energy, nothing missing...But it never happenned again.
