New York: Actress Amanda Bynes was arrested after she allegedly threw a bong out of her midtown apartment window when police showed up following a call from an employee of the building.

The troubled star has been booked on charges of reckless endangerment for throwing the bong out of the window, tampering with evidence and criminal possession of marijuana, reported E!News.

According to the police the doorman of the building called 911 to report that Bynes was smoking pot in the lobby.

When officers arrived, Bynes had already gone back to her apartment. They followed and, when she opened the door, saw a bong, used for smoking pot, which the actress threw out of the window.

The actress, who has been in legal trouble in the past for her erratic behaviour, was first taken to Roosevelt Hospital for psychiatric evaluation before being transported to a Midtown station for processing.

The officers noted smoke and the smell of marijuana in the apartment.

damaging bongs should be a crime :)
QFT, especially in a hysteric rage. She could have just stayed downstairs and admitted to smoking MJ gotten a fine then paid it and end. This way she looks like a crazed woman who was randomly smoking it up in a higher class building's lobby for no reason when she could have just gotten stoned in her room.....agreed with CH as well....psych eval. needed...:\

Can you imagine walking down the street and being hit with a bong in the head?
Not only would it hurt terribly, but your clothes and hair would smell like bongwater forever...
There must have been a better way to dispose of it or hide it then throwing it out the window.

That is pretty dangerous...though in my current state I currently imagine a more awesome scenario where someone toss's a Big Sister Roor with an inline ashcatcher on it is lightly tossed out of a first story window right as you walk by below to graciously catch it into your arms......score! On the other hand though....that is an atrocity.....what you had said though, that certainly would at the best ruin a persons day and at worst, seriously injure someone......

Especially considering she threw it from the 36th floor

Really, doorman? Really....

Also if she didn't throw the bong out the window she wouldn't have gotten in much trouble either. In Manhattan courts that paraphernalia charge would have easily been dropped down to a small fine. I was arrested with syringes (as well as a baggie with heroin residue that they claimed to have found) in NYC and I used the legal aid and it got dropped down to a violation that I was ordered to pay $120 fine for.

Lol like I said glad they gave the psyche eval........8o Clearly somethings wrong here, she nearly killed someone with a nice piece of glass, is randomly smoking in her lobby when her dumbass could've ridden the super nice elevator up and gotten bong stoned........something.....ain't......right here.......and its probably her career! I mean damn at least burn dat shit in duh elevator.....that way you can blame it on someone else! Fucking Bynes!

Don't worry I believe you when you say "claimed" no junkie would leave even a single molecule to be tested if we had it our way.

As far as bongs out the window I had a friend do that to someone because he wouldn't get out of the driveway. Not the same thing but just more evidence that bongs don't fly. I'm all for the porn I've been watching her since she was young (we are the same age) my inner 13 year old would love that!

Every cloud a silver lining 8)
Apparently she's claiming the charges were fabricated after she refused the advances of an officer.

Here's an article on that -

Amanda Bynes claims 'sexual harassment' by cop

INTERNAL Affairs officers are looking into allegations made by actress Amanda Bynes that New York Police Department officers sexually assaulted her when she was charged with heaving a marijuana bong out the window of her 36th-floor Manhattan apartment.

The 27-year-old former child star first alleged during her arraignment on Friday that police illegally entered her apartment after being called to her midtown building.

But in a Twitter message believed to be from the troubled actress posted Saturday, Bynes alleged that her arresting officer also sexually assaulted her.

"As it would with any such allegation, regardless of its credibility, IAB is investigating it," said the NYPD's chief spokesman, Paul Browne, referring to the internal affairs bureau.

The Twitter handle used to make the sexual assault allegations Saturday does not appear to be verified by the social network but Bynes' friend, former Hollywood publicist Jonathan Jaxson, said on Saturday the tweet was made from Bynes' account.

Twitter did not immediately return a request for comment.

In court on Friday, the former Hairspray star made no mention of the sexual assault allegations, though she did complain of illegal entry to her apartment.

She's been charged with reckless endangerment, attempted tampering with evidence and unlawful possession of marijuana.

A law enforcement official who spoke to the Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because of an ongoing investigation said the building manager was with officers at Bynes' apartment when they arrived Thursday night.

The official said officers were kept waiting approximately five minutes before she opened the door to them. The same official said the building manager told internal affair investigators nothing untoward happened.

Bynes was released by Chief New York County Judge Neil Ross on her own recognizance because, Ross said, he did not believe her to be a flight risk.

But in releasing her, Ross also issued a stern warning to Bynes, telling her not to get rearrested or miss any court dates. She's due back in court on July 9.

Attempts to reach Bynes' arraignment lawyer were unsuccessful Saturday evening.

Bynes rose to fame starring in Nickelodeon's All That and has also starred in several films, including 2010's Easy A. But she has been in the news more recently because of several scrapes with the law and bizarre public behavior.

Bynes was arrested Thursday night after building officials called police to complain she was rolling a joint and smoking pot in the lobby.

The officers went to her apartment where they saw heavy smoke and a bong sitting on the kitchen counter. They said she tossed the bong out the window in front of them, prosecutors said Friday.

Amanda Bynes tweeted earlier that the New York Police Department’s claim that she threw a bong out of window was false (“I’ve never had a bong in my life!” she wrote), and now, she’s accusing the police officer who arrested her of sexual harassment.

“He lied and said I threw a bong out the window when I opened the window for fresh air. Hilarious,” she tweeted. “He slapped my vagina. Sexual harassment. Big deal. I then called the cops on him. He handcuffed me, which I resisted, quite unlike any of the reports stated.”

UPDATE: FURTHER concerns have been raised for the welfare of Amanda Bynes after she went on a vicious, unexplainable Twitter tirade against Rihanna yesterday.

"Chris Brown beat you because you're not pretty enough," the former child star tweeted, before later deleting it.

Rihanna then replied with: "Ya see what happens why they cancel Intervention?"

Which prompted Bynes to repsond, "unlike your fugly faced self I don't do drugs! U need the intervention dog! I met your ugly face in person. U aren't pretty u know know!"

Serious concerns have been raised for the mental health of Bynes in recent months.

The series of tweets come after Bynes made allegations that New York Police Department officers sexually assaulted her when she was charged with heaving a marijuana bong out the window of her 36th-floor Manhattan apartment.

Don't worry I believe you when you say "claimed" no junkie would leave even a single molecule to be tested if we had it our way.

That and the car was a week old so we hadn't copped in it much, and when we did we had only gotten 1 stamp. When the police claimed to have found that baggie I asked what stamp it was (since they hadn't found it while searching the car in front of us yet charged us with it 6 hours later), and they had no answer, so I am almost positive they fabricated the charge. That's probably why it was dropped with the help of my public defender.
